How do you build your own portable book of business in smaller firms? I am a junior partner who has become indispensable to the senior partners. I am tied up with work from them and we only have one associate. I don’t have any time to develop my own new clients and if I did they can’t be big matters because I’m basically the only one who can work on them. I want o move to a larger firm but I feel stuck here because I’m not marketable as a lateral partner without my own portable book. Tips?
