Does anyone know how litigation finance works on the plaintiff side? If someone wanted to bring a lawsuit against their former employer would a general contingency arrangement with a plaintiff’s firm make sense? Or would one need to find funding and then contact a plaintiff’s firm to actually handle the case? I’m a transactional lawyer, so this is out of my wheelhouse.

Firms will fund or find funding. Just find somebody that thinks your friend has a good case.

Yep. If it’s a good case with assets to recover, possible contingency case. If not a good case or possibility that the defendant has no assets to recover, they will likely not take the case unless you pay them hourly.

for single plaintiff employment claim, your friend just needs to find a good plaintiff’s law firm to take their case. If the case is sufficiently meritorious and the defendant is a good target, the law firm will typically carry case costs.

It varies. Assuming single-plaintiff in your scenario, if it’s a strong case on the merits and enough recovery potential based on damages as well as defendant’s assets, then most firms would offer full contingency with percentage going to the firm up to 40%. Average cases would get a mixed contingency offer (flat fee up front plus 35%). Weak cases or situations where client just wants reinstatement but nothing else would be offered hourly.

They typically only fund large PI cases.

Hi fishes,
I had interviewed for Cognizant and I was asked to submit my documents for offer letter release. This happened on the same day as my interview(Friday 6th May). I submitted my documents and I am trying to contact the HR who scheduled my interview, but she is not picking up my call. My question is how soon can I expect the offer letter to be released? And is there a possibility that they can reject my profile at this stage?

About to turn down a job offer that would nearly double my salary after speaking to several former associates of the firm and hearing some not so great things. The word “sweatshop” was used multiple times yet I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. This is truly “you can’t pay me enough to be part of that” in action. I am betting that I can get the same money at a place with a better culture - hopefully I am right!
