I’m a firm believer that a manager should develop a positive relationship with employees, but I don’t want that to be an invitation to disrespect my authority. How do you know where to draw the line to make this distinction clear?
Anyone in this bowl asexual and in a relationship? (F) I can tell it’s starting to effect my partner more than he’s letting on. I’ve been with my partner for 6 years and he’s said it’s not important to him, but I’ve noticed he’s becoming more frustrated. Lately I just really don’t want to have sex at all, but I’m not sure how to handle it. I thinking of opening up our marriage and we talked about it but he says he doesn’t want to hurt me but it feels selfish not to at this point. Any advice?
Thinking of making the move from a mid size firm to big 4. What benefits does Deloitte offer (401k, Pto, etc).
Divorced Girlfriends, how bad was it before you actually made the decision? I am considering leaving my husband but I want to be 100% sure that I’m doing the right thing. What were your reasons?
Help! I pretty much live in my office… and yet it still feels like a generic 14x14 box. Some diplomas and a few pieces of office art just don’t make it feel like the home it needs to be. I need some inspiration!
Please post your pictures of cute decor, organizational items, seating, shelves etc that are realistic for a small size office and will up the “feels like home” factor.
Pictures of my office plants for attention and example of how “cute” challenged I am. Ignore the carpet stain 😬

Currently a first-year associate at a generally Florida-only law firm (only a couple offices outside of FL) with around 300 attorneys. Thinking about applying for positions at traditional big law firms for more resources, pay, and experience. 1) is this doable? 2) is this advisable?
Has anyone gone from BigLaw to start their own successful corporate/commercial law firm? How’d that go for you? In hindsight, would you do it all again? I worked at a boutique before joining BigLaw and the partners at the boutique seemed very happy/comfortable with their lifestyle, and they said they get paid more than when they were partners at a mid-tier firm.
Any workers compensation attorneys want to talk about how easy billing is with busy firms? New career path and I’m just thinking about hitting my quota. Firm has no lack of work to be done (defense)
Anyone in an L&E boutique shop (JL/Littler/Ogletree etc) care to expand a bit on what they do? Do y'all do a lot of title vii or ada stuff? Just curious what the day to day looks like- also, is there a lot of autonomy in some of the smaller satellite offices for juniors/midlevels?
How do y’all avoid burning out? I see colleagues working 15 hour days for weeks on end and do not see myself doing something like that without wanting to quit.
I recently started a new job in ID coming from a practice area where I didn’t really have to worry about billables. It worked out for me because I’m a pretty fast learner/worker and got more stuff done. Like today, I had to draft law and motion and I finished it in an hour and a half. (will need revision, ofc) but when my supervising partner was looking at my billable hours, he said it was impossible that I finished it in that time. I foresee this happening often in the future. Any tips?
Parental leave: do you have to be at a company or firm for a year before being eligible to take parental leave? Are there any companies/firms that don't have this requirement?
How do you bill for a project when your constantly getting distracted by other matters, calls, emails etc. I’m honestly just estimating what it should have taken.
I would appreciate any tips on training a paralegal/assistant while managing a heavy (Zoom) court and meeting schedule. My new assistant’s skill set is more narrow than I realized, and there is a lot to teach. I know training will pay off, but if there are some tried and true shortcuts I would love to hear them. My practice is almost exclusively family law.
Does anyone have advice on transferring bar scores even if I don’t plan on moving to another state? This would be purely for purposes of adding it to my resume. For reference I am in Massachusetts and considering transferring my score to New York.
Florida attorneys. The three-day cooling off period for contracts for future consumer services. Does Saturday count as a business day? I am not from FL and cannot find any definition!
Are you allowed to talk about settlement negotiations outside the trial context (motions/in court)? I know there’s an evidentiary rule that it’s not “admissible” but that’s an evidentiary rule regarding trial. If the answer is no, can someone point me to their rule on it so I could know (even if it’s your own state’s specific rule it would help me see if there’s a corresponding one in my state)?
Let’s get an update. Who else other than myself is still “strongly encouraged” to be in office in a large heavily infected city even though all staff has full capabilities to WFH?
Hey guys. I’m the event planner for CLSA at my law school and was wondering if anybody is willing to be on a panel regarding ethics during the coronavirus regarding the way confidential information is sent and received, how you guys use zoom for depositions or any ethical challenges you’ve come across during this time. Thank you!
