Why does it seem so hard to get to the Senior Executive Service level in government? I see so many inexperienced people getting hired into SES and then m asking a mess of things but I can’t even get an interview. What is the secret that I am missing?

The company I am interviewing with is very slow in progress. It is almost a month now and I still have another round of interview...feeling anxious as I wouldn't able to leave until end of October. I am in public accounting. Is it bad (burning relationships) leaving so close to busy season?

I cleared all my rounds of interview in JPMC, had salary discussion with HR 2 weeks back. After which i was asked to apply the job on candidate portal and submit additional information.

Its almost 2 weeks and i haven't heard back anything from them. My status in portal shows "You are moving to the final steps in the process". This status has not changed since last 2 weeks.

I have a video interview this afternoon for a role I applied to even though I didn’t think I was quite qualified for yet. I applied because it does align with everything I know besides bookkeeping. I figure they must be interested to request a video interview. Any tips on how I should go about selling myself and making myself stand out even though I am not experienced in the bookkeeping part of this job?

I count myself blessed though was through a recruiter that arranged the interview and offers. The Comp $55k base + OTE 40% of the base + Health coverage + 4days work week. What did you guys think?

Recently left my previous employer and am trying to decide what to do with my 401K. I am able to roll it to my new employer, but have been thinking about converting it to an IRA and then subsequently converting that to a Roth over the next 3-5 years. I know this conversion is considered income in the year I convert, and therefore taxable in that year. Any other fish recently think through this? Any key things you considered when deciding what to do with your 401K?
