What is your hourly rate? Since, I’m 95% fee based. I don’t have an hourly rate for consultations or FP reviews. I was recently asked, what my hourly rate is for advising . Didn’t have an answer.
Question— do you share your comp with close friends? Me and my roommate have been friends forever and while I don’t really share my specific pay, Im not sure if I should share it with her. When she got promoted she told me her comp tho I didn’t ask. Today I found out I was promoted (🎉) and left that part out. She asked me if I knew what my raise would be and I just told her the % but not the actual amount. Is that unnecessarily secretive? We’re in diff industries too.
Anybody work at Amazon? Are their offers negotiable? My husband got an offer for a senior position in the VA office paying $120k plus $20k bonus plus 13 shares of stock that vest over 4 years. My husband has ~6 years of experience (2 yrs midsize PA plus various industry roles) so the senior title is low but have heard you have to take a step down in title to work at Fortune 25 companies. He likes the offer but not sure if he should negotiate for more because it’s expected?
I have an upcoming 30 minute general interview with McK soon for a specialist consultant position. Any advice or tips regarding this interview? It appears to be the precursor to the case interviews. Canadian working in the US on an L1 visa. Thinking about exiting...debating whether to come back to Canada or look in the US. But, I’ll need to get a visa again... are TNs still granted for managers etc? In consulting or in tech?
Why might an interviewer reach out before the interview to prep? First time this has happened to me and confused about what to expect.
Hey could use some honest opinions on this because I’m still in shock. I was preparing to give in my resignation + 2 weeks from EY on Monday to jump ship to Deloitte. I accepted the offer from Deloitte on Friday, and I just got hit with a bomb today that my brother has cancer and we have no idea what stage it’s at. Should I just rescind my acceptance from Deloitte? I don’t know how it would be taken if I start at a new firm and immediately need substantial flexibility and time off.
If you request a salary that’s too high does the hirer usually tell you it’s too high and offer you the salary they had in mind or just ghost you and move on to the next candidate?
People - really struggling with this - was supposed to move to bay area for husband’s tech job. I can work remotely. But with COVID I’m not sure if we should make the move. We feel the world will move to a remote/ WFH mode. We want to buy a house and settle down before our kid arrives. Should we move to a cheaper city like Phoenix so we have a big house for cheap and 2 home offices. Am I missing anything?
Getting to shop at target and run errands mid week cause of no travel and I am loving the feeling of being a normie. 😬
I love my job at EY but the salary sucks. I have barely seen a 100 dollar raise monthly past three and half years. My salary started out at 62 and is barely there at 74 now. How do we negotiate here
Actually am getting pretty comfortable with this WFH arrangement. dont wanna jinx it 😬😬😬
On a flight (yes, but not for work) and a morbidly obese person next to me is all up in my space - there is no way for this person not to touch me. If people cannot fit into standard seat sizes (cont)
Looking for a Tudor black bay 58 with black dial on nato? Tourneau in NYC on Madison and 53rd has one. I bought it last night then exchanged it just now for the leather strap. How do I deal with a super intense senior associate that is making life difficult? This associate sees no difference between 11 AM and 11 PM, weekend or weekday. They will text me on my personal cell instead of emailing, insist on long zoom calls during which they insist on turning camera on, won’t review anything I send them unless it’s on a zoom call (yes, that is crazy and not the norm at my firm), and is not a good team player (something good? He did it! bad? You did it)! What do I do?
Has anyone noticed that busy season is changing into a marathon, not a sprint? I’m working close to 60 billable hours/week year round, and 70+ Feb - April. Is this a bigger trend?
Does anyone know what can be done for erroneous negative reviews on health grades or similar websites? There’s a patient who wrote a review about me and I checked months worth of notes - I never saw this patient. She cited a virtual visit that we don’t do at the office and said the appointment was at a time I wasn’t at the office. Not sure why they wrote the review but I wish it could be removed because I’m worried it will affect my future career prospects. Thanks!
I’m thankfully hitting my hours, but my firm keeps passing non-billable work my way. I am grateful for the opportunities, but this type of work always seems to find its way to the female associates at my firm. We have been told that non-billable work is irrelevant in terms of our annual hours. Any tips on how to navigate this in a thoughtful way? I want to be a team-player, but I believe that others need to step up to the plate.
I have an opportunity to take over the 401k at my credit union and was thinking about getting this as it seems like it could be done pretty quickly and may pay dividends in the future.
When as a good looking young woman, some of your coworkers think you won work because the client wants to sleep with you and not because you're actually good at your job...
