Does anyone know if I switched big four firms if my insurance goes to the end of the year and I just have to pick up the premiums or is my health insurance only valid until the last day of the month?

Last day of the month but you can get cobra for any gaps between employment.

like

You know I had to calculate and tie Cobra a little while ago and had no idea what it was until now. Thank you.

Also, if you have gaps in insurance you’ll get offered COBRA, which is expensive (since you’re employer isn’t subsidizing it). The key though is you’re allowed to accept COBRA retroactively if needed. So just wait to see if you need it before paying for it.

Insurance runs through the end of the period the firm pays for, which is typically month end. At RSM, it’s the 15th and EoM. The best thing to do is leave at the beginning of the month, so you have coverage, and start towards the end of the month at the new firm, so you have no gaps in coverage without any personal cost.

Can't decide if this thinking is crazy or smart: Staying in consulting for another 1-1.5 years for good maternity healthcare benefits and smoother pathway to ramp off and back on work, with opportunity to extend leave further with limited professional risk (e.g., in corporate a backfill might become your permanent fill). Worried that this A.) could result in staying much longer than planned B.) would still ultimately result in crazy consulting hours and C.) wouldn't go as smoothly as idealized

Had my 401k in all VINIX last year, and it served me well. I rebalanced to 20% large cap, 20% mid cap, 20% small cap, 20% Int’l, and 20% bonds. The Int’l diversification is pulling me down significantly. Would you shift that 20% back to large cap or just say it will payoff later to diversify? My IRA is pretty yeah heavy, so trying to be mindful.

Any Deloitters can share a little bit on how the pension works? From what I see 401k is 25% match of 6% of salary. Then pension is 1.5% of base?

Ladies, I have a dilemma. I know the choice is ultimately mine, but I wanted some input. I met my current boyfriend through my cousin and he lives in Chicago. The plan was for me to move to Chicago in the next couple of months. I planned on just continuing my job with PwC. However, I was applying for jobs in NYC and just received and offer for a company I’ve always wanted to work for. I feel like I’m going to have to make a choice between my job and my relationship. What would you do?

Hi European 🐠 My company is currently looking for IT architects and tech consultants (any level). We’re a boutique with a amazing team culture and really very interesting projects, great learning opportunities (aka we don’t get hired to take over tasks no one wants to do, we get hired to make a difference) + above average comp. Relocation is not necessary, as long as you’re in CET time zone and live close to an airport. DM me for more information! Cheers

Biglaw mid/senior levels who work in large teams on big deals (corporate side, specifically asset management/funds): what are your daily/weekly hours like? At my current job, it’s just me + one partner on virtually everything. I’m working 14-16 hours a day consistently and have taken only a handful of weekend days off in the past six months. I can’t help but think that being on an actual team would necessarily be better, but I wonder if it’ll just be another form of servitude.
