Does anyone know if the bright horizons payments during covid is taxable? Is there a tax form that I'm expected to get?

Do you mean payments you made to BH for care they provided? There is a tax form for child/dependent care expenses where you complete info on the amount you paid for the year and the provider info and tax ID. This is factored into your overall taxes to determine if you’re eligible to claim a credit. If you mean your firm paid you some additional money for childcare during covid, I believe it is taxable and should be included in your W2. *Caveat: I’m not a tax professional.

No, at the height of the pandemic, bright horizons offered $200 payments that you could use to pay someone for backup care since their centers were closed. Wondering if these payments are taxable.

Ah, sorry, don’t know about that. Good luck!

My partner has been clenching his teeth in his sleep, and I’m assuming grinding them too in his sleep since the beginning of COVID. He wakes up in pain and with headaches. He tried the mouth guard but he’s considering CBD oil as a less obtrusive way to relax while he sleeps. Anyone else have this problem and have any recommendations? Any good CBD oils we can order online?

Are you still afraid of catching COVID?

I don’t really agree with this person - why are we still debating the relative risks of COVID-19?

I took my daughter to the hospital thinking she had complications from previous covid infection. A few tests later and she’s admitted with masses in her lymph nodes, biopsy scheduled for today. She’s only 19. I’m a mess. I told my work that I’m taking off for now, I have no idea when I will feel like working. In a matter of hours I lost all interest in work - just completely gone. I’ve had coworkers who’ve had cancer and a spouses with cancer, and they continue to work. I just cannot imagine.

Can we start naming firms that are expecting associates to go back to the office five days a week with no wfh flexibility? And which firms are allowing associates to wfh with more flexibility post-pandemic? I hoped there would be a change to the general biglaw face time requirement but seems like some firms are going right back to 2019 standards.

Who here is still bagholding big “covid losers”? What’s your long term plan? In long portfolio.

Why is city not sending at home covid test kits to city employees and residents? I spoke to my friends in asia and most countries are doing it. Who should we reach out to?

For non-Chinese folks that celebrate lunar new year: Does it bother you when people call it Chinese new year and not lunar new year?

Has anyone taken a fully remote job (aka it’ll be remote post-covid)? Any regrets or advice? From the physical standpoint, I know you can rent out spaces so you don’t have to wfh all the time but I value camaraderie. At my last new job I started during the pandemic, I was able to make one work friend and we’d do Zoom lunches and stuff. It helped to a degree but idk if I can last 1-3 years never working with another person in-person.

Predictions of when covid rental deals will go away ? Been hearing mixed opinions. I’m talking to a luxury midtown high rise and the leading agents are like jump on this now as units are flying.

What grade (A-F) would you give your state or district in their covid response?

Coronavirus - how worried are you? I’m in Sydney, baby is 3 mo old and my family will visit in a few weeks from Europe. I’m worried they’ll catch the virus in flight. Would you tell them to postpone?

Is this a bad time to transition into a new job? There are open opportunities but is it too risky? Anyone here transitioned during COVID or planning to? Please share your thoughts!

How much do you spend on groceries per month and for how many people? Since COVID it’s been around $500 for just me 😬

I’m going to miss a close friend’s wedding as I tested positive for covid. Horrible timing. I would like to send her something nice because I feel bad for missing out on her big day. Any gift ideas? Like to keep it to $100-150

NYC: Looking for insight about how people are handling smaller local events (>100 people) amid the coronavirus. Are y’all cancelling/postponing or proceeding with caution?

Male here in NYC. Any female interested in connecting and chatting, possibly meeting? For the record, I managed to get tested for COVID, and do not have it. Understand and appreciate the concern.

Living it up in the city.

Still not seeing location in the post window when turning it off.

I’m from a low-income family, the only one who went to college) and already make more @25 (140k) than my blue-collar parents ever did in their life. There is clear resentment, judgment, jealousy from family regards to my life/ income to where I stopped sharing vacation plans/ posting about my adventures. Has anyone else been in this position? How do you manage it?

Embarrassing thing you’ve done at work and got away with? One time WFH, I fell asleep and woke up 20 minutes into a 30 minute call. Didn’t join because I felt it was too late. No one ever mentioned it

How to lose your job like a pro: 1. Set my LinkedIn profile to “Open to Work”. (To get contacted by recruiters) 2. LinkedIn automatically generated a public post for me to inform everybody (without my knowledge) 3. my manager just liked the post. 4. Now I have an awkward meeting to attend Monday morning AMA 🤦‍♂️
