Phd is useless in these fields unless you 1) are passionate about contributing scholarship to the field 2) want an academic job. You are better off doing an MBA if you’re looking for a credential to bump salary (or an MPH/MBA dual degree)
If you want to go to academia realize there is a good chance you will end up living in some random place because jobs are non existent
Started the process by getting masters.,.hopefully phd in the future! Thought I would break it up since I would go to the same school, it would make the phd about 3 years as many pre reqs will be met
That makes sense, I have an MPH hopefully some of my classes are transferable/count if I decide on the PhD. Good luck!
Hi OP, this is not what you asked for but here goes: I have found myself asking the same questions you're asking others about whether it's worth it or the right decision. Now I know it's different for different people. So, the factors that bring you joy and happiness may only have an overlap with someone else's. The questions I ask instead, are say: what factors should I consider when transitioning from a FT job to school, how best to position for applications or eventual success after PhD, etc. Ask yourself what will you get out of the program and what you envision later. You seem to already like academia. :) Hope this helps in making an informed decision. Apologies if this is a sure digression from your expectation.
Thank you for your comment! Will definitely keep these questions in mind when trying to make an informed decision

Worth in terms of money or career progression? Never ever. 5 years of salary gone and in 5 years you can go from A to M or M to P..But if you want to do it or exit into academia then go for it. If you are a hardo then do the PhD on the side.
