I am almost 2 years into my H1B. They haven’t started my I140 but when I joined told me that I would be eligible in a year of which I am coming up on in this Oct. I got a new offer today but they told me that they would apply I140 after a year from when I join. The pros of the new one is TC more than 18k with sign-on of 15k (not sure clauses for this) and better wrk-life bal).
My question is, how long into H1B is it advisable to have an I140 applied for. Would 3-4 years into my H1B be too late?

+ break into Big Tech
+ be part of regional CEO's chief of staff team
+ specialize in a field I am passionate about
+ move to London
- 50% net pay cut
- limited predictability on career progression vs consulting
- role is one seniority level below the one I can get (I was told by the hiring manager)

Feel as if I’m constantly behind peers in terms of career progression (e.g. MBB/ FAANG) despite having a decent-ish background (tier 2 consulting and now at top tier finance company in strategy role). I find that the companies I’ve worked at have very set progression based on tenure, with no room for negotiation.
