Just wanted to post an update. 68 weeks ago I posted about my drinking problems. It was bad. It’s been 8 months now without a single drink. I still can’t believe it. I still miss drinking. I’ve sat with coworkers and watched them drink. It’s not nearly as fun, but I am so thankful each morning I can hold my head up high. Will I drink again? I only said I would quit for 60 days. Can I have a beer? Some wine? A fine bourbon? I sometimes crave it. I guess there is the answer! You can all do this!

I am not afraid of working hard, but I keep thinking this just serves the company in getting someone who does manager work for not manager pay. Is this just me? What does it even mean now to work “in tech”. I feel like people are over romanticizing the “in tech” part to mean working any job in a tech company or the IT department of a company, when I think it should be more towards people in product, design, engineering, and maybe corporate strategy, etc. I’m not trying to gatekeep anyone, but I feel like this is problematic because it bleeds into stuff like “the prestige working in FAANG” but one is in a non-tech role or lower requirement role.

I recently accepted a new job offer a few weeks ago and start soon. It's not a well known company. It's a debt collector and is remote. I can work anywhere in the country. I recently got a job offer from JPMorgan as well and it is also remote, but I have to go wherever a hub and can visit family with vacation. Both companies pay almost the same - JPMorgan pays slightly more. I'm torn between the 2. The other company has a better title Senior InfoSec Analyst. JP's is Cyber Engineer. Any advice?
