I was initially looking for an Account Executive position, but I was afraid to be a bit bored, and not to be able to express my creativity enough in this position. From what I was explained, CSM would allow me to work in between several departments and to be very free.

Anyone ever been offered the “mommy track” without warning and without being pregnant? I’m a mid level and the 1st year male on my deal keeps challenging, interrupting and/or talking over me when I give him instructions or try to explain things. Any advice on how to handle this? I honestly just can’t wait for the deal to close.

I feel like the people who hate their careers are much more vocal than the people who are enjoying themselves. I’m a first year in big law, and I honestly just feel grateful to have a stable income for the first time in my life. My work life balance is good because I just draw boundaries and stop working at my cutoff time unless an emergency and make time for fitness/ wellness/ meditation. But I guess my Q is — where are the happy lawyers? Am I doomed?

Hi ladies. I’m 11 weeks pregnant and have been suffering from morning sickness all day every day for the last 5 weeks. It’s been extremely difficult staying on top of everything at work (I’m in a very busy practice group at Kirkland) and am wondering if anyone has gone through this and if anything helped. I’ve tried all of the conventional methods (eating small meals, vitamin B6, ginger etc) but nothing has worked 🥺.

Genuine question (that’s no longer a hypothetical): If a man rapes and impregnates a woman who then suffers an ectopic pregnancy and dies because she lives in a state where lifesaving abortion is prohibited, can that man be charged with felony murder? In the same vein, if a man pressures/coerces a woman to get an abortion, can he be charged with conspiracy? I feel like Suzanne Collins’ “If we burn, you burn with us” is the only tactic I can think of to fix this mess.

29 - single since 3L year. After spending a few years working on myself, I’m re-committing to dating. But ppl with “normal” jobs have apparently decided to only do 1st dates on weeknights? Bc weekends sacrifice their “quality” time? I work til 11 every night and would literally have to find coverage/take time off to pull off a weeknight date. How are single folks working big law hours making time? Every other associate in my group is married to ppl they met pre-work.

How do you explain a work gap if the reason for the abrupt departure is harassment? Is the excuse “I left for health reasons” genuinely received as an acceptable answer in today’s world (with the same old stuffy judgmental partners)?..could really use some light at the end of the tunnel that leaving before finding a new job won’t get me doubly burned by this situation…But, if giving the health excuse would get my resume tossed at good firms then I’m willing to endure a few more months.
