My partner feels at unease around my parents. She thinks that my mother doesn’t like her (she adores her) and feels like she doesn’t fit in. I don’t see what she is seeing but I also want to support her. How can I ease her anxiety around my family and make her feel more welcomed ?
I’m trying to figure out what I need to do covid wise for my upcoming Europe trip (first week of August). Will be staying in Italy and Greece and passing thru (only airport) UK and Netherlands. I’m fully vaxxed from the US, will I be ok to enter/connect through these countries? There is so much conflicting info out there my head hurts.
Husband found out that his fed job that he was hired into with the promise that he’d receive paternity leave will not let him use his paternity leave because he hasn’t worked for government for a year yet. But baby arrived a few months before he started his fed job. Is he still eligible for paternity leave when he’s been at the job for a year?
At what age do you stop taking a bath with your child? My 3 year old & I were in the bath together and suddenly he reached out to my chest and said “mumma, your lungs are outside, mine are inside my body” I was so embarrassed! I told him that those were my breasts and that grown ups have slightly different body parts. I normally take a quick shower before him and sit in the tub with him, as that’s our bonding time. I was wearing underpants so thankfully he didn’t notice my non-existant penis
EY 🐠 - Are there any issues with dad's taking the full 16 weeks for parental leave? It says primary care givers only. Thanks!
So I didn’t get my brother and your sister-in-law a gift for their wedding last February because I wanted to send them on a honeymoon. I thought I’d be able to use my points and really give them experience to remember. But it turns out because of Covid there are limits to the use of points for hotels and airfare. I don’t mind spending my own money, what do you think is reasonable? This is my only sibling.
What is the eligibility/requirement for maternity leave at Accenture? 1 year full time employment before you can take advantage of leave?
A recruiter just reached out to me about an opportunity I’m interested in. I’m currently 5 months pregnant - wwyd?
36wk pregnant, I’m so uncomfortable that I can’t sleep. Have a pregnancy pillow, but when I try sleeping on my left baby becomes very uncomfortable and starts kicking. Has anyone had the same, tips?
I started last October as a junior (moved over after 3 years in B4 accounting). Have worked nearly every day since then except for the occasional Sunday when I decided to blow off work I probably should have been doing. I desperately need a vacation, but have no clue what that even looks like with Covid, WFH, and Biglaw life in general. It also feels super hard to take a break because it seems like no one in my group ever does. Not sure whether I'm posting to gripe or seeking advice...
Been crying at least twice a day on this new project. It’s been a month of bullying (but hey, you’re the new kid, we’re just joking, that’s how we roll). It sucks SO much.
Why exactly is the lateral market so hot? More deals going on? People leaving big law completely? More people taking parental leave? A mix of these things?
I’m turning 30 in a month. My boyfriend and I have talked about getting engaged but I’m not sure when he’ll propose (probably after the pandemic is over when we can go on trips safely). I’m realizing that if he waits until after the pandemic, it’s going to be at least a year until the actual wedding. Then I had always planned on being married for a few years before getting pregnant. I’m having major fertility anxiety. Any advice?
Any recs for office chair within $100 range? Asking for a baby sister who’s a broke college student. Doesnt have to b fancy/super fancy but something that r of decent quality… i know its a stretch to ask for this budget🤣
Have a feeling I’m pregnant with second and am actually too scared to find out. My first just turned one and we are finally JUST starting to hit a groove (but he still doesn’t sleep through the night). Also, we JUST moved states. Ah, just so scared tbh even though we were trying for a second. Has anyone else felt this? What is the real experience of becoming a second time mom? Two under two?
Parent 🐠 How much do pay teenager babysitters (capable of driving) for the summer. It’s for 2 kids, age 7 and 9.
Got laid off but found a job. Unfortunately I can’t start for like 2 months. Any ideas on jobs I could do in the meantime? Can’t drive so no Uber. Willing to do minimum wage, anything will help
Second year who somehow ended up doing the acting senior role because we're so understaffed... There is no adultier adult
Getting fired from a toxic work environment is it the best or worst thing that can happen?

Any turnaround and restructuring consultants 🐠🐟 have an idea on comps +5, +10 years down from starting in T&R (ideally from FTI, A&M, Alix, Huron)? Trying to get a sense of how long to stay in this industry. First generation white collar and everyone at my company seems very guarded about comp. Pm me for any deets / advice as well :)
It’s weird that a white person continues to ask me, a person of color, to take diversity training, right?
Experience managing a team-member for 8 months now, but only have 1.6 yrs exp at Booz out of UG. Should I mention the managing role (1 bullet) in resume if applying to Level 2 at other firms? Or is...
Anyone willing to share their sales leadership incentives based on team goals? What’s the norm here?
Is it difficult getting into the INSEAD MBA program? Also, how respected is it in the US?
Anyone know anything about the company slack?
I need to revamp my intervention plan for foul language in the classroom. I can’t believe what these middle schoolers are saying and how little admin. does about it.
Hi 🐠- long time lurker, first time follower. I have about $2k that I would like to explore investing. I am very new, but also young and have a high risk tolerance. I max out my 401k and Roth every year. Any advice on where to best put this cash?
Parents - my company is thinking of hosting an optional, free biscuit making class over zoom in the evening for anyone who wants to participate and/or bring their kids. What time is best? 6:30? 7? Not sure when bedtime is for elementary/middle schoolers these days.
After getting laid off 2 weeks ago, I fired off about 20 resumes to different places. I have not received any feedback at all. Any ideas how to get past the computer and in front of someone?
Help! I have a T2 offer & need to hurry for the final decision. I also have a pending offer from AWS and I’m expecting an offer @ Netflix. Both Netflix and AWS are aware that I have the offer. AWS is rushing the final process (they need to put me in touch with a team manager in a different division before the offer). Netflix is silent for a week but i was told on last call that I passed the onsite interview and they wanted me on a higher/mgr level with a different team too. What would you do?
Considering redeeming points for the hyatt Maldives, anyone been there and can share tips? I also notice that you have to pay several hundred dollars a night on taxes and fees? i find that strange...
Recruiters/CDs/general hiring folk: can you tell what platform a potential hire built their website on (squarespace, wix etc.) and does it effect your decision in any way? In the same vein, do you notice/care if portfolio sites are mobile response? Are you ever actually looking on your phone? Thank you for any/all insight!
Curious how being a ‘CISSP Candidate’ (passes the exam but doesn’t have experience requirements) would fair in a job search. Better to get years of experience requirement before looking, or is passing the exam enough?
What is an appropriate amount to have for an all expense mortgage (property taxes, hoa, etc)? My income is a base of 140 with a bonus of around 15k. I currently contribute 100% to 401k and Roth. This leaves my normal paycheck at around 5k a month. I have about 200k towards a down payment. I want to get a place I won’t want to leave in a few years so I’m thinking of getting something more than a starter home but don’t want to be living paycheck to paycheck
