Does anyone miss being passionate and excited about things? I miss how I used to feel as a kid. Now I just feel perpetually numb. Like I’m not sad but I don’t really get excited or passionate as much. But when I do feel inspired, I know that’s what I need to follow.

Yes. Not much seems to excite me anymore. Even when something does it seems short-lived. I think my excitement is always dampened by a sense of worry that I don’t think I had as a child- at least about the future.

I feel you - I still have passions but life sweeps it up and changes things around. Still love what I do and used to do, but now have different priorities that will obstruct them. Always give yourself time to pursue what you love no matter what your work is doing.

Married LGBTQ fishies - in light of todays Supreme Court case and the rumblings from Justice Thomas re: looking at the legal basis for federally recognized gay marriage - are folks doing anything to prepare for any nullification of marriages? My wife will need to adopt our daughter legally, which we had planned to do eventually but now there’s some urgency - but I’m curious if anyone else is considering this, and if so, what’s the plan?

My parent is sick with dementia. I can tolerate high level of stress when I'm called names, sent to h... etc.. but I keep everything inside. It's been that way for a long while now. Today my cup of tolerance has overflown when I was giving my parent a bath. I was so angry that I was shaken and I forced my parent to bath... I yelled and said things I would never say otherwise. I know I'm wrong and it's a disease, but I just couldn't help it... now.. the work time comes... I couldn't concentrate... tears just flowing from my eyes. Which I totally deserve. I'm glad I was working from home today. It got to the point that I just don't want to see that anymore... I just don't want to wake up. I just want to escape of my thoughts and my feelings...

Found a most enlightening work on decolonial history with tons of TIL moments especially about Anti Colonial movements in Egypt, China, Japan and course India in the 19th and 20th centuries. Most histories this period often adopt a Euro-centric lens but this book flips it and tells the stories of these turbulent times from the vantage point of the pioneering Asian leaders like Tagore, Al Afghani, Kang Youwei etc. Lovers of Asian history would surely appreciate this book

So my bipolar dad got declined for a mortgage because disability gets shut off in < 3 years when he turns 65. So now he wants me to co-sign for him. Between housing markets being up, my concerns over his money mgmt, and concerns over tying up my credit there’s no way I can say yes. He sold his house before being approved for the new one he put in for (against my advice). I know he won’t understand and will take this personally, and the family will probably take his side. Additional Posts in Depression/Anxiety Talk

Need advice. My roommate has anxiety/depression and has been experimenting with drugs like ketamine. He’s always been super chill but freaked out on me violently last week over something small and made me feel super unsafe (I think he was on drugs). Found a new place to move to but idk how to tell him because idk how to react. I want to tell him the day I’m leaving when the movers come but I feel like that might trigger him too. Thoughts? I’d be ending our joint lease, I can afford it, he cant.

How do you deal with irrational anxiety whenever your boss is saying “hey let’s schedule 1:1, I’ve got a few things to discuss”? I’ve never had a bad performance rating before, quite the opposite I have received positive feedback. I also know 99% of the time this meeting is harmless and my anxiety has been proven wrong many times. But I’m still always on edge whenever this kind of meeting is scheduled. 😩

Also, yes I do go to therapy and have discussed this issue, but it hasn’t helped
