Does anyone send a meet your teacher paper to the new kids on your caseload during the summer? I know many gen Ed teachers do things like this- but I think it may be nice for new parents to know who I am. Just looking for ideas! ☺️

I usually don’t know if I have new students on my caseload until right before school starts - and sometimes I don’t find out until after school starts! 😳 (I teach RSP) Most years I’ve intended on sending a letter home, but didn’t get it together. The year we taught virtually, I did manage to get a letter written, including a picture of myself, with the help of a colleague. I had more motivation because we were sending work packets home and weren’t meeting new students in person. Last year I think I sent letters home via Parent Square, our parent communication system, because it was convenient. Unfortunately not all parents access ParentSquare, so maybe not the best choice. I hope this gives you some ideas! 😊

I usually have to have an ARD or IEP meeting with the parent within 30 days so I don't. I have a conversation with them a week before the ARd but if they are a drop off parent than I make a point to meet them in person.

It was a requirement along with doing a class page. Additionally, I like to have personal contact through phone calls or emails!

I wish I knew who was going to be on my caseload during the summer!

It's a good way to establish expectations and to determine which parents will be actively engaged with their child's education. Create alliances early!

I send one home the first couple of weeks

Has anyone else gone back to relying more on public transportation with the surging Uber / Lyft prices. I haven’t taken buses and trains much since I’ve graduated but now it just feels like I’m throwing money out the window by not making the switch back.

Hi all, I have the long-term goal of ultimately getting into a good Venture Capital firm at Associate level. I currently work at Amazon , did my undergrad and Masters in Economics at LSE. I have 2 main questions:
1) Is it even possible/feasible to pivot from Amazon to VC given my background?
2) I have the option to internally transfer in Amazon to a product/program manager role or AWS in a start-up Manager role - which of these would be best to maximise my chances of eventually getting into VC?

Hi! I'm a GedEd Middle School ELA teacher in Texas. This year I'm teaching 3 sections of coteach ELA and it's been a nightmare. I don't know if the coteach model is just a nighmare or if it's just the way my school/district has rolled it out that is making it a nightmare. Does anyone have experience with coteach? Any help is appreciated.
