Does anyone think having visible tattoos (sleeves etc) in the work place looks unprofessional and will hinder chances in your career? I want to get a sleeve done but worry that future employers will care, my controller has both sleeves done and only covers up when c-suite is in town and I feel like that’ll do
I think less and less people care but I do still only get ones I can easily cover.
Hahahhaha yes please dont get a tear drop tattoo on your face 🙅🏻♀️ my office is pretty laid back in general. They dont mind to have any tatoos visible in the office, except when meeting clients

As long as they’re classy. Face teardrops may hinder you. Tramp stamp or tasteful sleeve probably not a problem. I think public perception went from “gross/trashy” to “kinda hot” in the last few years.

But only the classy boob ones that peak up through the cleavage.
I have two sleeves and my partners have chosen me specifically to be client facing, my experience is if you’re good/great at your job it doesn’t matter as much.
Can confirm. Female senior manager here and I don’t cover them for client meetings, including when I’m with the audit committee, and no one cares.
I love tattoos so much but have mostly focused on filling out my legs & chest first. I’m also a woman though and have yet to see any full sleeved women in the profession, only a guy while I was at an industry job, so I don’t really want sexism and outdated thinking on tattoos holding me back. Once I’m in a higher position, I’ll feel more comfy having visible tattoos. I have some small simple ones visible on my upper arm that are only visible when I take my sweaters off on hot days & no one has said anything to me yet about it, so perhaps I’ll just slowly start adding to that & see what happens lol
I was having this conversation with some partners. Even a lot of the laid back ones had a negative view of it in the workplace especially client facing roles. A few of them said as long as you can’t see them but most were surprisingly against
I agree. I do understand not wanting any visible tattoos, some clients will always be more conservative with appearance or have certain religious stigmas against them. Personally? I could gaf 😂
Yes! it will hinder, because that's just what people are with the previous generations.
I have a sleeve tattoo, but only a few senior managers and above, who I earned their trust knew because I knew they're better human beings than the rest and encouraged me to be myself, professionally and personally.
Going straight out public about it will seriously damage it, and what's worse is that making yourself be okay about it will make them judge you more as arrogant, and you won't hear anything about it to your face, but behind.
Personally, when we become the old generation, I think it will become acceptable.
My 2 cents are just to be strategic about when to reveal them, because a lot of people will judge you, and others will celebrate you.
As a senior manager in audit I have visible tattoos and am very much client facing. No one cares and it hasn’t had an impact on my promotions or opportunities. Just be professional and good at your job and it won’t matter.
I personally think it looks unprofessional to have visible tattoos. Avoid hand, face, and neck tattoos.
It’s more acceptable for men. :(
Yeah I know that’s lame tbh
In my experience visible tattoos matter less in industry bc youre not "client facing"
