I liked it for cheap housing but now that’s a wash
House prices + property tax + traveling expenses to see family >= no state tax
Affordable, tons of space, kind people, nice airport.
Nice *airports
Those of us that like Dallas are too busy out enjoying Dallas instead of commenting on fishbowl
Not really. Super cheap and great for starting a career and traveling but terrible for my hobbies of surfing, snowboarding, mtn biking etc and meeting like minded folks. Came here for school at SMU and been here 8 years...stockpiled a ton of cash, paid off student loans, bought a super car, traveled overseas a ton, but can't manage to find my groove here. Might be time for me to bite the 10% tax bullet (25K for me) and move to SoCal (can you tell, haha)
Super car at $250k 🤡
People just love to hate on anything
Weather is good most of the year (near a body of water summer isn't too bad), every musician comes through here for concerts, restaurants, people, interesting neighborhoods, shopping, open space, housing prices, airport (probably too 3 in country)
I like it because there are great options for food (especially Asian food), easy access to things, and lots of indoor activities. However, the heat is a pain in the ass and then those people flooding here from cali and ny
I did until I didn’t. Fort Worth is way better
Used to live in Dallas until I moved to the Bay Area. I miss Dallas’s space, miss the big houses with big lawns and wooden flooring!
Living in a crappy 1960s shoebox now worth 1.5M+ (no wooden floors, carpets)
Would you ever move back to Dallas? I interned in Dallas and lived in Bay Area for the past 5 years - I’d move to Dallas in a heartbeat
I regret moving here
Don’t disagree, but Miami is way more expensive
Chief
Nope.
I love it here!
Life got easier once I moved here. Slower pace, people are nice, I live in a very diverse and safe neighborhood. Variety of food options is great. Always things to do (concerts, sports events.. ). I like the weather, don’t mind the heat at all.
North Garland
It is solid. No regrets.
I moved here from west texas. While there might be some things that could change I am much happier here than I was there.
I have only been here for about a year so I still don’t really know anyone. And all my friends and family are still in WTX, however my mental health is so much better here that I’m ok with the slow going of making friends.
I moved lol- just a lot of bars and eating out
So you just got out of Dallas? I'm moving in for work lol
I like it. For kids and housing. Good neighborhood and school
Moved here to be with my ex and didn’t care about the place then. But now I’m trying to move back. Not a fan of the winters here.
Right! Nothing compared to last years
It’s ok for six months of the year
Travel around a bit and you’ll realize dallas is really worth it for value
I hate Dallas. But I'm too lazy to move.
