Please delete the name Jos A Bank from your vocabulary. And burn any Jos A Bank clothes you may still have in your closet.
Hard stop, do not pass GO, do not collect $200...
I have one tie I still wear from them and about 8 suits I bought for the price of 2 that sit in my closet from my early days in banking.
If you are looking for inexpensive suits start with a couple from Charles Tyrwhitt and build from there. I’ve heard plenty of negative reviews on Indochino, mostly suits not lasting more than a year. There are also good deals on rue la la but you need to know your size very well and have a good tailor
OP - if you're slimmer, try suitsupply. Great value, super stylish, starts at $400.
I did when I was fresh out of grad school working for the govt making ~40k and couldn’t afford anything else. Looking back now at pictures of me wearing those suits I deeply regret those purchases...
That’s JNCOs you heathen
JAB has a serious image problem, but the upper end of their shirt range (ie Joseph Aboud) is actually decent quality.
That said, the best shirt choices for slim guys are Nordstrom Men’s Shop Extra Trim, Charles Tyrwhitt Extra/Super Slim, and TM Lewin Fitted/Super Fitted.
Thomas Pink Athletic is also good but at a much higher price point
Random but one time I forgot to pack enough underwear on a work trip so I bought boxer briefs from Jos A Bank because it was closest/easiest option and they’ve become go-to undies
The last time I wore jos a bank, I was 14 and had to get a suit for an aunts wedding. Even at that age I knew the suit was shit
Thanks TW. I use amazon shirts a lot - buttoned down and essentials. Just trying suits
Not sure where you are exactly but if you’re in NYC I’d strongly recommend taking a look at a store called “Century 21” (WTC location) every suit brand you could think at a very affordable pricing (~30-60% off list). Also I’d recommend Mysuit location for custom suit (not as expensive as you’d think) similar to Indochino but better IMHO.
Thanks Mc1, I am in Atlanta, but do have couple of NY trips in January so will plan to visit those stores!
Definitely check out the suit supply next to Lennox. They're pricier in the US compared to Europe, but are still a good value. Quality is great and service at that location has been outstanding. I own probably around 7 suits from them only had one minor issue that they promptly addressed. Even if you don't find anything right then make sure you try on a couple different styles and sizes (personal favorite is the Havana, very modern, unconstructed suit) and register your email online for the outlet (think it's us.suitsupply.com/outlet). They have about two sales a year with really good pricing. I assume one will come up in January to offload the inventory from the holiday sales. If you are willing to spend a little more, the Jetsetter suit is hands down my favorite. Looks sharp, wrinkle free, comfortable and has a little stretch so you don't bust your pants when running to the gate.
Love the CT stuff I’ve purchased
Have you guys tried the JoS Reserve collection suit and jackets? It’s fully-lined canvas and wears great. They have far more choices than BB. I own Suitsupply and highly recommend them. My SO bought me made to measure Canali for my birthday. I can’t go back to anything else. Which means I may buy a new suit maybe 1 in 2 years now
Last time I heard that was in a grad school case study lol
Outside of suits I do like some of the polos and sweaters they have
I need to buy some new suits
I buy shoe trees and wool socks there when they have their buy one get two free sales. Otherwise I don't even think about them.
Thanks P3!
Thanks D1, how is the quality at Suitsupply? I got a few at Indochino and not really impressed. Where can I see this deal for 400 bucks? I saw their site has suits starting at 799!!
Hahaha A1, I been there to get a few neck ties on a similar note!
