Post-Covid, I just cannot seem to find the inspiration to network at a conference such as the AWS DC summit. I initially wanted to get facetime with vendors to check out potential job openings. Wondering if anyone out there feels differently or has had better experiences from these events? #aws

If you started your own consulting firm: - what would you do differently regarding hiring/people management/compensation? - how would you balance offering competitive compensation with constraints of being a new firm and needing to build savings? - how would you determine your rates and tie these to employee salary? Consider a constraint of your consultants being leveraged by a larger firm who takes a small % of the rate, deals with contract overhead, and sources work.

Why do companies, specially consulting ones, still cares about a referral? People are giving referral like candies to unknown people just to get that juicy bonus (not judging, have done the same).

I'm a woman in tech, and over the course of my career I've experienced some egregious instances of sexism. In addition to impacting my career progression, it's made me a lot more bitter and reactive than I'd like to be, which I find obviously detrimental particularly in continued male dominated workplaces. Women - other than therapy, have you found anything helpful for dealing with this kind of thing? Men - is there a best way to talk to you about unintentionally sexist behaviour?
