Hello fish what will be the in hand salary..?
TCS Whitefield(13kms from my home) and IBM Manyata Tech( 23 kms). Joining date May 1st week. Offered almost same salary. Heard that IBM is calling back to office. Is it worth to join IBM, considering huge traffic near Manyata Tech Park? Can't change home as it's permanent. Please advise. Thanks IBM Tata consultancy sevices

Try for in-house instead or a different law firm. Big 4 day to day deliverables are not the same as they would be at a law firm. You might be subject to compliance and a lot of admin nonsense.
Thanks for the heads up! Definitely open to relocating since the only reason I moved to SF from NYC was to join this particular firm. Maybe in-house would be more of the lifestyle I’m after.
You might consider non V5 firms as well.
I lateraled here from a ~70 ranked firm in NYC and have had a terrible experience all around.
I was at a V5 doing M&A tax and am at national tax now at Big4. While my Jan and Feb were 200 hour months, hours have absolutely been better. I do not have to wait up all night for deals to sign and weekends are generally not interrupted or when they are there has been profuse apologies. Seniors miss calls on the weekend and it is fine.
Work product is generally the same just shifted in amounts. I still review legal docs but do not draft them. A lot more structuring discussions and then drafting of SOFRs and opinions. Some PLR work, presentation work, and other thought leadership work. I wouldn’t know what to do if I had to look at a tax return.
Pay is less but Big4, with a younger generation of workers, is MUCH more flexible on remote work. So I live in a low cost of living city. (Was previously in one of the big legal markets and really didn’t want to be in such an urban area). Also, perks are better in some ways (my health insurance premiums went down $400/month).
All in all, it has been a great move for me.
Shoot me a PM.
SoCal here but can weigh in. I’m thinking about making the opposing switch. Hours here are pretty bad, but I guess it’s subjective.
Where are your hours? I just hit 2000 hours and we have another 4 months in our year. I probably average 2500/year. Weeks can be as high as 125 hours.
same year as you *
I’m a manager, pay is about $180k, bill 30 on average a week in the bay area
and weekend work is unheard of at least for my team/practice area
