Does anyone work in a firm or have insight on firms that offer associates flexibility to work at the firms other offices, especially offices abroad? ...

I know people who’ve done secondments mostly at international firms with a UK presence.

My firm has a lot of flexibility to travel and work from other (US) offices— we can typically expense any trip as long as we work from the office located in that city while there.

... I am a corporate attorney in the US, but I want to eventually work abroad just to get some new experiences and live somewhere new, maybe for a few months or a year or two, with an option to return to the US. Do biglaw firms with international offices allow this type of arrangements? Are there any firms in particular you know have this flexibility?

Ropes advertises a “Global Opportunity” program that might fit the bill.

I know people who got secondments because they talked to the senior partners who liked them, and had a partner in mind whom they wanted to work with who liked them too.

Do you think after this is over companies might be more flexible to WFH arrangements? It’s the new normal

Help! I went from consulting to the client side in a legal related position. I don’t think my skill set is for this job. How do I get out?!

My first holiday season in-house after a couple of decades in private practice, doing the same kind of transactional work that I’ve always done. My year is functionally done. No one else is around or working. I’ve been so conditioned to expect to grind out through the holidays that it makes me think of how Brooks in Shawshank had become “institutionalized.” I only worked hard the last couple of days because I set some deadlines so as to get things tied up before the holidays - the old mindset!

What are some examples of post MBA job opportunities for those looking to stay in healthcare? I’m aware of the LDP programs from the big pharma companies, but haven’t seen too much else in my research

Trump supporters - if Trump keeps not listening to experts and ignoring the science around coronavirus, at what point does it become his virus?

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

Any suggestions for escaping the ops life? Just took level 3 and have been doing interview prep... unsure how long I should look internally before looking outside of the nest

This is stirring the pot but I truly have only met a few Account Managers that are good at managing clients. I’ve been in the industry for many years at this point I can only name maybe 5 Account Managers who truly knew what they were doing. Learn to push back on unreasonable requests, provide solutions, and advocate for your client AND the agency (not JUST the client). The amount of weekends I’ve had to work because of incompetent AMs who believe their job function is to say yes to everything😭

A white friend is looking to buy an apartment. One apartment is in an older building in an established neighborhood. It doesn't have an in-unit washer/dryer. The other apartment is in a brand new building in a historically black neighborhood that has seen a lot of gentrification but it's still near a project with a gym, a nice roofdeck with a grill and in-unit washer dryer and costs $100k less. She's considering the first place despite it being more expensive and older. Racism is expensive.

My agency puts on a big show about their diversity/inclusions/women’s equality efforts but for the most part its bullshit. The c-suite drinks their own koolaid and don’t even realize it’s all fake.

I have an offer from MBB at my MBA program but I’d lose my sponsorship with LEK if accepted (they won’t match it). Interviewed for exposure. How easy would it be to lateral to MBB after I put in 2 post-years with LEK? Are the cases a little more relaxed then? The FOMO😖

Have salaries in advertising really changed over the years/decades? I remember in 1993 at Lowe NYC when the salary list was left on the printer... the CDs were making about $200k on average. That’s 27 years ago.

Any thoughts/insights on how the travel aspect would play out in PwC's Salesforce practice in the post COVID world? Will they want us to be on the road 4 days a week or it will be much more hybrid? If it's the latter, how much % of travel should someone working at PwC's Salesforce practice expect?

What decade had the best social culture & why?
