It has some seats, and doors that open and close. It stops at various places.
This, and nobody actually works in LIC
Have lived on the 7 line for 10 years, should be fairly painless as the train from Manhattan to Queens is a reverse commute for the most part.
The only negative in my book is walking up and down the slope of death between Port Authority/ACE and 7 lines at Times Square.
This is true! It needs to be better
7 train is probably the best subway line - new, clean, runs often, and rarely has issues
Except yesterday when there was a track fire at the terminus in Queens. But usually is my favorite train
7 train is extremely fast / reliable during the week. Have lived off of it for 5 years. During peak times, one comes about every 2-3 minutes.
Doable. Tiny bit of a walk from Port Authority to 7. I've never had problems on the 7, though I know some people who live further out in Queens will only take express trains in the afternoon to avoid kids getting out of school. But you'd be the reverse commute anyway.
Not to me, unless I didn't like my current job.
LIC is awesome, the 7 is great, but what jobs are there on Vernon??
I have relied on the 7 to get from LIC to Hudson Yards and Port Authority for 4 years (with a break during the pandemic) and it’s been really solid. It isn’t too crowded later in the mornings, runs frequently during commute hours, and feels cleaner/less sketchy to me than other lines.
Are you working in the office 5 days a week? I honestly don’t think the commute will be that hard after reading the comments.
Not for ony 30K. Not worth the increase and 5 days imo
I live in LIC and I’ve never really had any issues with the 7 train. The last time I went into the office during rush hour wasn’t as busy as pre pandemic. You’ll be right by Gantry Plaza so that’s a plus!
There’s also a ferry you can take from Manhattan to LIC, it really depends on where your office is
