The conventional wisdom is you hire 22-23 year olds to do social.
• Their salaries are low
• You get a ton of work out of them
• Theyre up on trends/they use these apps
• Clients want to pay less for social
• Agency looks hip
The idea of hiring a 40 year old as a community/calendar manager and paying them 1500 a day because of their level of experience just…..I mean, just doesnt have the right ring to it.
(Which by the way, is gonna be interesting, career wise, for these 23 yr olds one day)
Maybe it’s an oversimplification, but I think advertising basically is digital/social now. Even video is more focused for digital media.
But to answer the question, I think your earning potential will be limited if your portfolio only features banners and social posts. Gotta show some big ideas that check all the boxes: traditional tv spots especially.
Just wondering bc I have 360 work and heavy social...but tons and tons of video.
I see people on here saying they get 1500/day in major markets and that has NOT been my experience, even at 14 years experience, a great client roster, and great work. I have less print and traditional work and thought maybe there is a difference in rates because of that?
Because it’s more tactical than coming up with the big idea. It’s executing it.
