I only know dev levels who are antisocial.

The finding it weird is probably a generational thing. Older millennials and the generations before aren’t as social media hungry.

I really don't want people I work with stalking my social media. I don't have much of a presence, very much so on purpose, and it's my personal decision to keep it separate. Wouldn't appreciate someone doing this to me tbh.
I don't really care if someone sees my home. I care if they infringe on my outside-of-work-life privacy 🤷🏻♀️
Yes i do this haha

This seems kind of creepy for work people. I am not connected on social media with work people except for LinkedIn.

*unpopular opinion* I just assume that everyone will look at my social media presence. I don’t post things I don’t want anyone seeing. I never understood the notion of putting something on the ✨internet✨ and expecting it to be private. Far too much work to socialize and network online in private mode.
I don't post anything I'm ashamed of, it's just personal. There are social media platforms for professional connections. It's different if you have a presence you've curated that extends your career interests/persona onto social media. I'm more than just my career. I'm a survivor of domestic violence, I'm neurodivergent, I lost a family member a few weeks ago. Do my coworkers need to know those things? No. Do I still have a right to post about them for the intended audience? Sure. Of course I can manage privacy settings, of course I understand that it's the internet and not much is truly private, but I also believe it to be in poor taste for someone I work with to go search for my personal social media accounts for funsies. If I wanted to be friends online I'd make it happen, since I didn't, and they haven't broached the topic either, they should assume they're not the intended audience and find a hobby instead.
