Does having an excellent advertising pedigree give you the right to treat people badly? Any advice on dealing with extremely rude and extremely smart strategy humans ...

Nothing gives you the right to treat someone that way. Ask to talk to them in private, say it bothers you, and that’s that. Worst case they don’t change, best case they stop because now they now know it bothers people and makes them look like an ass—they probably didn’t even know they were doing it beforehand.

Unfortunately, there’re no real penalties for such behaviour and there’re benefits. So it’s not going away. Whether or not they’ve got the right is irrelevant, it’s a good idea to learn to deal with such people without getting stressed, you’ll meet a lot of them.

Remind them that if they’re so smart, then why are they in advertising?

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

Someone senior at work is very dismissive of my questions and makes me feel nervous around them. I have just joined the team and so I have a lot of questions. They also try to blow things out of proportion or misrepresent facts and I get flustered in the moment and can’t keep track of what really happened. So I end up accepting blame for things that were not my responsibility. And the truth hits me a few hours later. How can I break this cycle?

Put in my notice 2 weeks ago. Last days is this Friday. Partner I work for has been a total dick. Multiple other partners have reached out to say they’re sorry to see me go. Partner I work for has since been a bigger dick. Seriously tempted to tell him off and/or actually be honest in my exit interview with HR. I know that means “burning a bridge”, which is bad. Someone please talk me out of it. Genuinely.

Junior here. How common is it to be nudged off a brief when you can't get ideas through internally? My partner and I are often put on the same briefs as more experienced (sometimes senior) teams. As a result, their work tends to make it through to the client presentation while most of ours dies somewhere along the way from CD to CCO. Is this worth worrying over?

I'm a senior AD and all the resources out there are for juniors. I'm not sure what I need - I feel pretty confident in most areas - so maybe all I need is time to practice and get better. But is there something you did/wish you'd done to improve your abilities, develop your career path, or open your mind?
