Feeling super low. I got an offer for a PM role with Capital One that I was so excited about. After sending a negotiation letter however, the team withdraws my offer saying I’m no longer a good fit . I was respectful and only asked for things that my existing org offered, and made it clear I was happy to adjust if not feasible. I’m beyond disappointed and it’s triggering to my depression and anxiety . It’s been a long job search and this feels absolutely awful

More than $10k cc balance can def. think it’s an independence issue
That’s correct
Yes. Could be an independence issue or sign of fraud propensity if it seems people live beyond their means.
See if they do credit checks- My firm only completes for finance and partners.

Depends if you get a company credit card. It matters for partner I believe. Probably not for a general background check unless you claimed bankruptcy at some point.

Not unless you have declared bankruptcy at some point
Not in my recent EY background investigation.
i have 22k in credit card debt (about 11k) on each card and 50k in student loans and a personal loan of 14k, nothing came back and there was no issues. it won’t hinder you getting a job, as far as independence thing, if your balance over 10k just report it (this is done after you are hired) so they don’t put you on certain clients and you’ll be fine.
No, it doesn't. And many states prevent the background check company from even including it in the report, which means for the big4 they generally follow that practice across the board. Baddies (e.g. late payments, bk, etc.) may be a different story. Independence is completely separate from pre-hire background checks so your credit card balances are wholly irrelevant. However, as someone else noted, the procedures for partners may be different as they aren't hired as employees.
