Does it look bad to move from small firm as a manager to big 4 as a senior? Have an offer from PWC but not sure I want to lose the manager title.

Comes down to what you want from your future career - if you want to work for bigger companies, it’s probably a worthwhile trade off to get PWC on your resume, if you intend to grind for a 2-3 years minimum. If you are good with mid tier companies, probably not worth it 👀

Depends. How long have you been a manager at the small firm? Are you confident that you would be able to manage seniors and associates at a Big4? How familiar are you with PWC software/technology, policies and procedures? This is quite normal. Manager at small firm does not equate to a manager at Big4. You need time to understand the company’s technology, policies and procedures especially if you’ve only been a manager for 1-2years.

like

Doesn't look bad, sounds normal. Complexity of clients, learning new software, procedures and techniques is going to be on a different scale.

Is PWC offering you a significant bump in salary to take on this senior role?

like

I did this, it doesn’t look bad at all The expectations for audit managers at B4 are very high, go in as a S3 learn PwC’s way of doing things and you will grow into the role

Depends on what you want. Manager at a small firm may pay better, but big4 is big4 and the brand is could be worthy. I went from a regional firm to big4 as exp associate and the exit opps were better.

smart

It’ll be worthwhile and you’ll be grateful you’re not immediately stepping into a manager role because the transition is going to be overwhelming.

smart

Do it. 100%

Despite the ego blow, you will probably appreciate the relief of not being held to the expectations of being a manager at PwC, especially not having come up through the ranks there. I went to a smaller firm during what would have been my promotion to manager year at Deloitte, and the smaller firm offered me a senior or manager position. Because I was looking for a lifestyle change, I went the senior route. No regrets doing a lap as senior while I learned the ropes at the new firm.

Are there staff/seniors/managers here that are looking to leave B4 and go to smaller/midsize public accounting firms? Or does everyone generally want to leave for industry?

Do you consider any of the “Big 4” accounting firms a business involved with securities regulation compliance consulting? The con compete section in my current employment agreement with my GRC firm restricts me from going to a “business involved with securities regulation compliance consulting”. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

I’ve been on H1B October 2019, expiring in 2022. I’m kind of clueless as to what happens next. Does my firm start the green card process soon because it’s been almost 2 years (ive heard/read you need to work 2 years before they do that at big 4). What does that entail and how long until the green card comes out after that? And when they renew my H1B for another 3 years is that a guarantee extension and not a lottery like the first one?

Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls
