If I'm forced to use my vacation, floater, etc. towards my study leave for CFE but I have vacation booked for right after CFE, will PwC still let me take that vacation as a "leave of absence"?
Word of warning, check your employee handbook about unused PTO. Apparently in New York State, even with labor laws protecting unpaid PTO, if it’s written in any employee handbook or material that unused PTO is waived when you quit, that‘s all the employer has to do to get out of paying you.
If you had the chance to become financially independent (i.e. interest from savings covers all expenses) within ~10 years, what would you be willing to sacrifice for that? Eg building and maintaining close relationships, free time to spend on your hobbies, time to go on vacation/relax, etc?
Question to my peeps who left public accounting. Do you get paid your vacation and holiday balance when you quit?
How do I give my two week notice? Through initiating resignation on DNet? I’m also going to be away on vacation until 1.5 weeks before...
Thoughts on vacations: is it unrealistic to be left alone while you’re on vacation, even if it’s planned well in advance? Starting to feel like time away is impossible & slowly creeping into burnout
Do any of you at EY ever have issues actually taking your vacation? Given we work with people across regions on multiple projects at once, who do you ask for approval for longer vacations? I feel like I usually just add it in ARMS and tell people I won’t be there X days. Rarely do I ever get pushback (but rarely do I ever take all my vacation days)
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
Hi ex-McKinsey, When did you get the PTO payout after leaving the firm? McKinsey & Company
First year C here. Button down + chinos + blazer okay for the holiday party? Too casual?
So the google PTO policy is shit? And you need to take vacation days to observe religious holidays. Quite surprising.
Anyone know Accenture’s PTO Policy?
PwC peeps: I have over 135% utilization. Has anybody used G&A code instead of the vacation code? Since I don't see that I'll be on the bench anytime soon and that 30% has to go somewhere. Tips, ideas?
What should I do after a FET? What is the best practice? Anything you did/avoided? Eg are you on modified best rest? Do you take time off work to ensure that you are not stressed/sit too much?
When this is over, imma need a 3 day holiday to catch up on happy hours, house parties, and hang overs
My husband and I have been wanting to start “trying” for a baby for a while now. However, I’m unhappy in my current role and would like to make a jump somewhere else. I have a few early interviews lined up but it’s still early days and no telling where they’ll go. Is it silly to put off trying until I find a new job? On the contrary, is it problematic if I accept a new role down the line while a few months pregnant? Either route feels like a compromise. Appreciate any input from mamas out there.
LEK vs Parthenon? Heard both are sweatshops. Would love to hear real life data points. Thank you in advance!
I woke up at 3 AM with Sunday scaries despite being off this week. Decided to look back at pictures/quotes I’ve taken screenshots of over the years and have determined I’ve been stagnant in life for a solid 3-4 years. Sure I passed the CPA exam, made senior, then manager, but my satisfaction with my job and life has remained low for that duration. Every year around now I start looking to leave but never do because industry seems boring. Any advice? 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Hi all, just looking for a range, what should should someone with ~3YOE in consulting (targeting Senior Associate) expect for a base salary. And when giving a range is it better to overshoot knowing they’ll bring it down?
Any advice in starting the search for an exit opp? Or if you know if any good opportunities in nyc/remote? Consulting is burning me at both ends of the wick and I need to be somewhere I can sustainably contribute, learn and grow. It’s hard to search when you’re working till 1am. A bit about myself: -3 yoe, mainly tech pm & scm work via consulting -degree in SCM and info sys, cert. scrum master -environment/culture is very important to me, good people, reasonable hours, etc.
Any good book for learning about real estate? I live in NYC,23 and I'm interested in getting in it next year God willing...?
How much are the hourly rates for the seasonal contractors at the B4 firms? Especially in tax. Thanks
Anyone else with big 4 experience looking to find a rewarding career path with an undergrad degree in accounting? What career options are out there without having to go back to school?
I’m leaving a Manager role to take a Director one. They are finalizing the formal offer letter now. I want to leave my current team on good terms, not drop the ball on projects I’m leaving. I’d also like (need) at least a week to refresh and reset and get organized before starting the new director role. I’ve been negotiating terms with the new place since September 3. We agreed on compensation yesterday. Is asking for a Nov 1 start date pressing my luck/being a jerk or totally reasonable?
Does anyone know of any good sites where a a woman in her 30s can just shop a look vs picking out what to wear on their own? I feel like I’ve lost all sense of style wfh 😭
Can you add parents visiting from India as dependents for our health insurance. Parents want to visit but not sure how to pay for healthcare if something COVID related happens (not sure I can trust India based insurers if something big happens).. any recommendations ? TIA
Do any real people actually want schools to reopen as it stands now? Im hearing so much about it but it feels like a weird disconnected political thing and not a live humans with kids thing. *Obv the goal is to get covid under control so kids can go back safely, this is assuming infection rates stay steady or continue to climb
Wondering what the thousands of women, BIPOC and LGBTQ laid off since March are thinking as they watch all the agency leaders declare their commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity at the 3% conference this week. It has to seem almost humorous. Almost.
Waited two months to hear back from EY for a role that said online and from the recruiter they wanted to progress me to the next steps in the hiring process. Even did the hire Vue video and phone screen. Woke up today to find out they are going a different direction. Thanks for dragging me on. That’s cold
Anyone done the Kellogg video essays yet? Is the COVID question still the same from the 2020 cycle? Would also appreciate any general advice you have for them
