I have yet to see a dividend from my 401k holding in Vanguard Institutional Total Bond Market Index Trust… Been in it since October ‘19.
I max out my 401k contributions annually. I want to start investing in short(ish) term stocks (up to 5-10 yr return). How do I get started?
Recently lateraled and at my former firm one of my female coworkers just got back from maternity leave. The firm has a billable requirement of 2000 hours and those who go on parental leave have a prorated requirement based on leave taken. She just told me that the bonus is also prorated so even though she met the reduced requirement she will only get 60% of the bonus. Is this standard?
Just switched jobs. Old 401k has more than $5k and new 401k is with a different provider. Is there any reason whatsoever to move the old 401k cash anywhere, either to the new 401k or to an IRA? Given that it's more than $5k, it can stay there indefinitely, right? I'm fine with the investment options with my old 401k. And I can transfer it over to a new IRA or new 401k anytime, even years in the future, right? Given that no distribution will come to force the 60 day rule?
I’m 29 years old and make just under $100k. I was saving up for a house but in the last year the prices have skyrocketed. In my area it’s about $350k for a house so I’m putting it pin in that. Anyways, I’m making my 401k, maxing my IRA, and have no debt. Is the next step maxing HSA and taxable brokerage? Any advice?
Any advice for someone just starting their career on how/where to start investing other than typical 401k/stocks?
Couple financial questions: 1) what do you do with your 401k when you quit? 2) if you go to grad school and come back above the income limit for Roth IRA, do you leave it where it is to grow?
Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)
Hey all! I received an offer from Kearney and am excited bc I am super excited about focusing on ops. I want to focus on healthcare ( such as commercialization/biopharma operations) and was wondering what these fields are like at kearney! Thanks for the advice.
4 months in at work. Have $12k in savings account that won’t be touched except for emergencies, and a couple K in checking for current expenses. 401k contributions are maxed. How should I be allocating future paychecks- everything invested in brokerage account?
Is healthcare in America really that bad? Are there many people who want/need healthcare who are unable to get it? I was watching this video and am wondering: is this the model America should (not can) adopt?
has anyone figured out how to mimic a mega-backdoor Roth IRA without after-tax contributions in your 401k?
I go on maternity leave soon, and my firm offers 16 weeks paid leave, which I plan to fully take advantage of. The only female shareholder in our office keeps pushing me to only take 6 weeks though, because that's what she did. I feel really put off by her comments, but its also making me feel guilty about taking the full time. This is mostly a vent, but if anyone wants to give me some words of wisdom or thoughts, I will take them!
Why is US healthcare so expensive?
Wife and I are entering our 40’s and I am looking for advice on next steps on building a rounded portfolio and tips managing 401k, 529 for two kids (5&3). Also, looking to start an investment account beyond our emergency savings. I wonder if I should look to a human planner or go at it on my own? The next step I have in mind is to invest 500 to 750 a month into an investment account. What would be a wise place to grow this money? My mind is engineering based so I appreciate any tips! TIA
What’s the best company that provides education benefits for part time masters program, emphasis on part time? Accenture has ZERO. Deloitte had $10k/year.
Recent college grad with a salary of 72K in NYC at KPMG I intend on maxing out my Roth IRA. Should I do Roth 401K or traditional 401K this year? Perhaps a mix?
Posts about 401k’s and IRAs dominate here. I never liked em for their restrictions. I buy land instead. Third time now. Tend to double my money at least, each time. Am I still missing out or I have I stumbled on something better???!
Home office chairs under $200…any suggestions?
Thoughts on Credera? Starting the interview process and was curious how they are as a firm....

Can anyone speak to culture of the EC/VC and M&A groups at WSGR? Looking at remote positions. Thanks!
If issued H1B RFE during H1B transfer how long does it typically take to resolve and get the approval? Filed with premium processing with Fragomen. How long can I expect fragomen to take, uscis processing time, etc?
Any idea who is hiring H1Bs (no I-140). Every firm I have applied to, either clearly says no visa dependent or after interviewing, asks questions reg. My visa situation and then ghosts me. I am a Senior Manager with a WITCH company. Business Analysis and non technical skills
To those that have used applicant lab to craft their essays - how useful was the brainstorming section and how long did the whole process take? I'm worried that I'm spending too much time ahead of jumping into essays but should I just trust the process? I'm applying for R2 fyi.
Hired as a Director into consulting but the client wants me to become "Chief of Staff" to his functional area. Should I consider that a demotion or promotion? Didn't really sign up for staff augmentation. Large part of my team is inept and the program is failing in areas. (Paper Lion title I never really had a chance to direct anyone.)
This is a long shot, but my lease is up in December and I’m looking to move into a house with a backyard for my dog. We are looking for a 3rd roommate for a 3+ br/ba. So if you happen to know anyone looking for a similar situation, let me know! My Brother is 30, a Brand Specialist with a BA from CU Denver, I’m 31 with a MBA from Leeds. My dog is 6 years old, 60lbs, super friendly. Open to anywhere between Denver and Boulder. Open to M/F and another dog is welcome. We’re both vaccinated.
Does anyone know what the new EY green card policy means ? It says you must be a senior or above but meet manager qualifications so basically you must be manager ? Don’t get it EY
I’m on a small team where I happen to be the SME and the the only other person who knows how to do it is the VP. I have an offer to leave for 60% more to a big 4 + get title bump (associate to senior consultant) but I feel bad. I think this will burn bridges. I love manager, team and WLB. They were so excited to hire me and now I might leave them. Help
A jr member of my team is getting married next month. Should get her a card or something? Hard to have the team sign it as we’re all remote right now.
Could someone please direct me to resources that explain/demonstrate how to teach any elementary subject ( including Specials) simultaneously when your school has no webcams, your Smart Board is to be used as the monitor to see the remote students and the in-person students are not allowed to use technology? Or, if this is your situation, share how you are set up delivering lessons under these 3 conditions.
I told a former legal intern I could write two recommendation letters for them and realized this morning that I’d missed the deadlines for submission on different days earlier this week. A close neighbor died after a long illness this week and it hit me harder than expected as I’ve been trying to process all of the losses so many people have suffered over the past year and a half. Should I let the former intern know or reach out to the companies and try to submit the letters late first?
Anyone here work in house at Amazon or have good tips or insight into the onsite interview process? Have an interview in about a week and would appreciate any insight or tips.
