Only if you are targeting consulting or banking. There are networking events hosted by big consulting and banking firms. Try attending them. Some of them are invite only so connections help. Do not bother botique consulting or banking firms at this point.
To me it makes sense from the perspective of building relationships. Most big tech companies recruit on campus so you’ll have plenty of time during school to formally recruit. If you’re really excited about a specific company or know your school isn’t a target for the companies you want to work for, then establishing touch points now may be helpful. However, you’ll get more value from informational chats with people in teams you want to join than with HR. If you really want you can do a pre-MBA internship, but long run that doesn’t make a huge difference. You should really focus on enjoying this time and if you can afford do, take time off work and relax! Speaking post-MBA :)
Agree with both above. Please do not! SC1 above also has it right: the maximum you should do is attend pre-MBA (like, August) networking events for consulting firms or banks you’re thinking about recruiting for internships/full-time with
I don’t know, others can weigh in maybe. If you Google for “[FAANG company] on campus recruiting at [MBA program]” you may be able to get a contact in HR to reach out and say “Hey I’m interested in recruiting but know it’s early-days, but are there any pre-MBA events or anything I can attend to learn more?”
My instinct is to not go much further than that, though. The point of the MBA is to recruit. Don’t worry about trying to recruit before the 2 consecutive years of recruiting starts...
