MBB or bust imho

Big 4 can be a great career accelerator… I also don’t think age matters as much as your think. If it makes financial and career sense 3-5 yrs down the line, I’d say go for it. If not, then stay where you are.
Why would you even entertain a 30-35% pay cut to work in B4? Doesn’t make any sense
I wouldn’t switch to consulting from industry where you make good $ and have good WLB
What counts as good money? 200k probably not worth it
Don’t do it
Different WLB expectations
Different way of working
No network
It can accelerate but depends on where you’re coming from and where you’re going, and what specific skillset you have. I came from industry to B4 in the tech consulting space because I wanted to expand my learning and application to other tools I wouldn’t have access to otherwise. Money was better, would not have left for a drop on pay.
I would, though, now leave for MBB or T2.

My friend switched into Big 4 as equity partner from industry at the age of 56
I did it for exactly the reason you mentioned. Moved into big 4 from banking (not IB) just because I felt like I didn’t like the options ahead of me in my banking career. Big4 has been great, super challenging and feel like I’ll have a lot of exit options a few years down the line. Busy season is pretty rough but I knew that going into it.
I'd say no
Is being 30 a bad thing? I am 27, almost 28, and I am starting my career now :(
