Does it makes sense to work at Big 4 if you’re 30 and working in industry, making good money. Was thinking if Big 4 can accelerate my career or if i ever make switch to consulting it only should be MBB or tier 2.

I am currently working on SAP CPI,PIPO,CPI-DS (basically Integration as a whole) development (also attend Support issues regularly) with experience of around 1 year. My leads are quite happy with my works.

For career growth, what shall be my ideal path ahead?
1. Only concentrate on Integration
2. Continue Integration for some years, then switch to Functional modules (in this case, after how many years should I ideally switch)


And what shall be the ideal time to switch companies?

Is senior manager level in an investment bank(RBC ) lower than manager level in big 4? If yes , which title will be same to manager level in a big 4?

Any groups in Chicago one can join? Specifically for black marketers/advertisers. Heard of Coalesce but they have a pretty bad rep. Any national groups that one could become a member or board member?

Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Looking for some advice. Second year associate at firm of 25ish attorneys in the Midwest. Looking to make a move and have an attractive offer from a small firm of 6 attorneys. I have about 13 years experience in public sector healthcare doing program management and PMO work on systems implementation and integration projects. Which firms can I target outside big 4 for similar roles? Seems like most firms are doing only healthcare strategy work which is not my area of interest. Thanks.

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Specially that he considers the potential layoff is purely based on the current situation (chargeability was low) and not on his performance (they said that his contribution to BD during his bench time was low)?

Would love to get your input on this but how do you guys feel about consulting, especially with a STEM background? I have worked on studies where we make recommendations that anybody with a basic scientific/engineering knowledge will say “yea, no f-ing sh*t. We want to do that too.
