Per nyc law, you’re entitled to get it back within 14 days of vacating the premises or else they have to return 100% of the deposit.

Yes, I had an old scumbag apartment management that ignored my emails about my deposit for a month. When I finally called them and they tried to say they will only give me back half because “the sink was left dirty”. After weeks of back and forth someone told me about this law and the moment I brought it up, they returned my full deposit immediately.

To get it back? Mine took about 5 months and multiple emails from me 😒🙄

Oh jeez what a nightmare. Mine was "processed" weeks ago but never arrived. First time dealing with a lease in NYC

Still no check in the mail. To "threaten" or kindly remind them of the rule should I be contacting the manager at the leasing office?

OP, honestly it’s the principle of the matter. Landlords purposely try to scam tenants out of money and if we don’t stand our grounds they will keep doing this. I was fully prepared to pay my entire deposit to a lawyer just to make sure the scummy landlord doesn’t get to keep a dime with their evil practices.
