Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
Does anyone have any insights about Anderson tax ? What will be a reason for me not to go from big 4 to Anderson if I’m getting 25% increase in pay ?
If you’re planning to leave one big 4 for another and also switch from one service line to another, is it worth asking your current company to make the internal transfer happen instead? It’s something I just recently started looking into and I didn’t mention a word of it on my annual review just recently. It would 100% come out of left field and I almost feel like they would at a minimum want me to do another busy season in audit before making it happen. Almost feel like a clean break is easier.
I’m seeing a lot of job req’s for Bain’s Advanced Analytics Group nationwide: does this group operate like a centralized Analytics COE to onsite strategy teams? (I.e. Consultants advise executives/leads on An analytics roadmap, and AAG come in and implement, rather than go with a Big 4 / Indian IT shop?) Thanks guys. Bain & Company
Alright Fish Friends, can I please get your help? At a Big 4 with 10+ YoE in legal, operations, tech and want some thoughts on what kinds of roles and companies would be a good fit in industry. Catch is golden handcuffs here, which means I need TC at $300k or better to jump (sole breadwinner). Thoughts?
Have 7YOE in tech implementations but I’d like to go to MC. Would I be looking at a pay cut because I have no experience in MC? Currently an M2 in Tech and looking to make the move to M1 in MC at B4. Current base is 180 in T1 city.
Thoughts on moving to a lower tier consulting company for more $ (~56% increase in TC). Currently at a Big 4 and not sure if moving will negatively impact the opportunities available to me further down the line
My co-worker just told me she got an offer from another big 4 with a base of $160k as a S1 in tax??
Do companies weigh certs more than hands-on experience? (ie: open source contributions, projects, etc) Asking b/c I'm joining big 4 in cyber and wanted to know whether I should prioritize certs over developing my skillet through projects? Thanks
55-60k as an analyst/associate in admin function at investment bank, or £39-47k as a senior consultant/AM at big 4 in corp restructuring? I’m 23 and no experience in either and can’t make up my mind, please help!
Got an offer as an experienced consultant at another Big 4 in Canada for $57K CAD. Am I being low-balled?
I feel so lost in my career. I have three years of B4 experience (1 year audit, 2 years risk compliance) and I absolutely hate what I do. I’m a high performer yet I have zero motivation. I don’t see myself becoming partner & I also dont see myself being a controller/CFO in industry. I feel like I made the wrong choice but accounting is all I know. Anyone else go thru this? What type of role/industry did you pivot to?
Interviewed with big 4 month back but are still in process of interviewing others. Another recruiter who doesn’t know I am already being considered wants to chat for a better role. How to handle?
B4 advisory to M7? Is this possible/common?
Is KPMG Tax Ignition- Data Analyst the same as the rest of the big 4 tax tech. Do you guys do programming with Python, R, and SQL?
I work at a growing consulting firm in the Data Privacy space (but have mainly done IT Audit and Cybersecurity work to date). I think I would eventually want to do Privacy work in industry but want to build more experience and knowledge in the space first. I also really like the WLB I have at my current job (around 45 hr work weeks). I occasionally get reached out to by Big 4 recruiters. Am I missing out by not engaging with these recruiters? I feel like I would lose my WLB if I pursue Big 4.
Starting mba in the fall. Should I keep working until July/august in hopes voluntary layoffs with severance start or stop working in June (which was the original plan)?
Are there apps, websites, etc out there that recommend to buy certain stocks at buy points?
Tata Consultancy I have 11 years of experience. Joined TCS as AST last year and will complete one year next month. Any suggestions on process to get promotion as I heard 11 years is eligible for ASSOC
How's the bench look for OT&T?
What is a good email subject to ask for coffee meetup to someone you just met once at a client?
Just got the axe, it’s weirdly nice to be laid off via Zoom and not walk the plank to HR and have everyone see me publicly crying. Time to crack a beer for sure.
San Francisco restaurant or speakeasy reccs?
Applied to KPMG (with a referral) and RSM (without a referral). How long does it generally take to hear back when applying as an experienced professional for a manager role? Haven’t applied anywhere since college so my idea of timing is pretty outdated. Thanks!
Accenture is giving 18K for buying WFH things. They mention we can biy earbuds. Can we buy Samsung Galexy Buds Pro? It cost around 11K. They also mentioned smart things are not allowed. Any clarity on this one?Accenture India
I am currently an audit associate at a big 4. How hard is it to switch to TAS-FDD / valuations with less than one year of experience or close to one year

I’m in Finance, doing very basic project management tasks. What are some skills or certs that would make me more attractive to a recruiter and help me land a nicer role (hopefully something more in Analytics/in Tech)
Are folks facing rental rate increases in COVID? My apartment folks sent me a rate increase of 1% in Atlanta. With no increases in salary, I think I should negotiate. Thoughts?
I’m a young data scientist with around 4 years of experience, and am wondering if taking on a paid role as a data science boot camp teaching assistant would be a good resume add, contracted with a reputable private university (technically can’t list as an employee of the university since it’s a subcontractor)
How do I not feel bad that I’m interviewing at another firm? I haven’t told my manager or team anything, and I really like them and don’t want to leave them hanging, so it feels like I’m betraying their trust. I know that I’ll have to at some point. Any advice?
