Does KPMG have a student loan repayment program? How does it work? How does it compare to other big 4 firms?

They pay you a paycheck, government takes their cut, then you spent half of the remaining amount sending it to sallie Mae. It works great for everyone but you.

For non managers there are the quarterly ECB and amount to $100/month before taxes. If firms passed the free student loan repayment up to $5,250 then this would be a tax free distribution if used to pay loans.

No repayment program in the US. However, we have a deal with Citizens where if you refinance with them via a special link, you’ll get $1000 deducted from your principal balance and a $500 Amazon gift card. The rates are hit or miss though. When I tried in 2019, they weren’t competitive with others (SoFi, Earnest, etc). When I looked again a few months ago, they were right in line.

Yeah if you’ve got Fed loans, don’t even consider a refi until after Sept. Even then, the chances for some sort of relief or forgiveness is pretty high given the administration.

^ I think what K3 was trying to say is that the government incentivizes corporations to pay up to $5,250 tax-free for student loans, but KPMG giveS staff $1,200 instead. And it’s taxed.

Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?

If you’re planning to leave one big 4 for another and also switch from one service line to another, is it worth asking your current company to make the internal transfer happen instead? It’s something I just recently started looking into and I didn’t mention a word of it on my annual review just recently. It would 100% come out of left field and I almost feel like they would at a minimum want me to do another busy season in audit before making it happen. Almost feel like a clean break is easier.

I feel so lost in my career. I have three years of B4 experience (1 year audit, 2 years risk compliance) and I absolutely hate what I do. I’m a high performer yet I have zero motivation. I don’t see myself becoming partner & I also dont see myself being a controller/CFO in industry. I feel like I made the wrong choice but accounting is all I know. Anyone else go thru this? What type of role/industry did you pivot to?

I work at a growing consulting firm in the Data Privacy space (but have mainly done IT Audit and Cybersecurity work to date). I think I would eventually want to do Privacy work in industry but want to build more experience and knowledge in the space first. I also really like the WLB I have at my current job (around 45 hr work weeks). I occasionally get reached out to by Big 4 recruiters. Am I missing out by not engaging with these recruiters? I feel like I would lose my WLB if I pursue Big 4.
