D1 is correct. Anything beyond the CPA needs partner pre-approval, but continuing education that has a business case is definitely something they support.
Which practice are you in? I’m in audit and had my request denied but if you’re in advisory, EVS, or RA I think they would approve it
That tracks with exactly what I said. I am in audit as well. If you are in Financial Services and a high performer, I would think there is a chance you could make a business case. Sounds like you didn’t make a valid case for it. It is understandably much more difficult to justify in audit.
Just pay for it yourself unless you want to be held under the gun for claw backs. In audit it’s very hard to convince your partners that this helps your career without being seen as a flight risk. I am not directly in a financial services group however. Your situation could be different
I just went through this and decided I’d pay for it myself to avoid the headache
Edit: I just read the above. I’m a top ranked senior so it wasn’t merit that was the issue
Ya I just paid for it too - it’s not too expensive, all in including th schweser books is like $5k over 2.5 - 3 years. Plus if you pay for it yourself you’ll end up studying more.
I’m in deal advisory
Can’t speak to KPMG policies, but I heard if you can make the business case for it, they won’t say no
EY reimburses it pretty quickly and also provides Schweser materials
