End goal: strategy at a large industry player (auto, apparel, etc) Is it more logical to use the mba to jump right into those companies or use the mba to get into Mbb/tier 2 and then jump?
Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
Asking people who went from big 4 to mbb, is it much more “difficult”? If so? How much more?
What are good ECs? Asian F at MBB, T10 stem undergrad 3.8. I have no hobbies (rip) and the MBA consultant told me to do something outside of stem to break stereotypes. Goal is HWS
Long run what pays more MBB or FAANG ?
MBB 🐠 I’ve heard that your firms generally only keep the top 20% of newer resources after 2yrs. How true is this? How likely is it for someone to get counseled out at the 2yr mark?
Which career path will u choose for yourself and why? Options - 1) CXO of large tech co., like FAANG 2) partner with b4/mbb 3) CXO of a unicorn - like stripe or what Facebook was in 2006/2007, with a huge upside when it goes public 4) start a company of ur own that has a decent shot of becoming successful. All the options will make u rich and yes u only have 4 options.
Hi Eric, thanks so much for taking the time to do this! I used to be a manager at MBB, recently went to industry and don’t like it. How difficult is it in your view to boomerang back to consulting?
Got 2 offers, 1st from British American Tobacco- Planning Expert 10% pay rise and 2nd from small company(focus on data science) 50% pay rise, Data Science Project Goal: to break into MBB or FAANG
As head of a division in industry, we work a lot with vendors. Increasingly I am noticing that men working at vendor firms have offer resistance when I ask for more details/invoice timings etc. I recently had a partner from a mid size firm telling me that he will be sending the invoice without phase completion. Ofcourse, I pushed back since the work is not done and it's not per contract, and he comes back asking me to be flexible. I am ex MBB, and am quite surprised at this attitude. Cont...
Does it bother you that the job market is so faddish? When I left college (pre-crisis) most wanted to work for a bank or MBB. Now all I hear about is FANG (but mostly G) and startups.
Do major consulting firms (ex. MBB, Big 4, Accenture, Kearney, OW, etc.) have strong supply chain presence and experience? What are the best firms and/or geographies with strong supply chain thought leadership and meaningful experiences to develop breadth in the field?
Can anyone offer color on salery levels moving from a global advertising agency to the the advertising/digital practice of a Big 4 or MBB consultantcy? Is it similer to the strategy consultant pay or is it it's own level?
Deloitters who have left for MBB or a big 4- did you get fired when you told your leadership? How did that work? Do you now answer “yes” when asked if you’ve ever been fired from a job?
So this might be a better place to post this and ask this question: Uncle D has announced explicitly that most people won’t get a pay raise & bonus this year except for those promoted and high performers. Amid this crisis, are companies including other big 3, MBB, FAANG, boutique consulting firms still giving high raises and issue stocks? Can you share the impact from your firm?
I’m on PTO doing some final studying for my GMAT in 2 days but my PPMD is pinging me to help on something. I told him about this PTO well in advance (several months ago), but I don’t want to disclose that I’m taking the GMAT to him which is why I will not be doing work. What should I do?
Expecting and offer from Accenture soon as Manager in their cloud practice. What is the salary, bonus, RSU I should expect. Just want to be better informed prior to negotiating.
I have a FAANG interview coming up with a senior VP for a Project Manager role (non tech). I really want this but I’m really nervous. Any insights on typical questions to prep for?
Which are cheaper but decent universities for online MIS or CIS course or MBA? I already have a non computer masters from a top school but want to get this degree to avoid visa transfer problems.
I'm a first year and just received a raise, even though I haven't been at the firm for a year yet. It's a great amount, and I'm so thankful. The partners told me in person but I'm just wondering if I should ask them to put it in writing, just to confirm it and in case anything happens down the road? If I learned anything as an attorney, it's to always have everything in writing lol
Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.
WHY do big tech companies make the candidates write algorithms during interviews? I am a senior software engineer and I can say with surety that SSE rarely write algorithms unless you are working on building something totally unique (like a new search engine).
Would you travel with your 7 month old from NYC in flight right now given coronavirus situation?
Company made an offer below my current compensation, even after I submitted my current compensation for proof. Is that normal or are they just taking advantage of a flooded job market?
Just promoted to M1 in Michigan. Base salary is now $88,300 (+4% bonus of $3k for total of $91,300). Wondering how this compares to others out there, and if I should be happy or disappointed, lol.
“Per diem” meal expenses are EXPLOITATION. $50 is not enough for a single meal at a hotel restaurant, let alone an entire DAY for food. Shifting travel costs onto your employees = evil. Yes i mad :<
Has anyone been offered a status buy-up for 2021. ~$1700 short of United 1k this year and think my travel will increase a good bit starting next year. Think it could make sense, especially given the 2021 thresholds
My team is underperforming. I’m not looking to play the blame game, but rather constructively improve their work products and client delivery. I’m finding my reviews are turning into reworks. TBC..
How flexible is Deloitte with the start date because of H1b processing time? I signed the offer mid-may for July 12 because it seemed realistic enough for premium H1b transfer. But the lawyers seem slower than what I was used to and July 12 does not seem likely. Is this going to be a problem?
So I’m very sick and someone on fb reached out to see if I needed medicine but when he realized I was a woman he left the chat. There’s that brotherhood.
Recommendations for travel destinations in the US at the end of October / early November? I have a few weeks between jobs, concerned about getting Covid in another country and not being able to come back on time. I don’t want to do hiking or national parks as I’m a young woman traveling alone and don’t think I would enjoy lots of hiking by myself. Am vaccinated
