I heard engagement leader/project leader but I see someone on LinkedIn specifically as “project manager”
The person may be an engagement manager but just put project manager on LinkedIn so other people can easily understand their role.
Business analysts and associates do the same thing and put consultant on LinkedIn all the time

No. Not officially. However, some folks use that when they start to play the manager role before getting promoted to the Engagement Manager role. It’s mostly so that if clients look up the manager they don’t see that we are staffing an Associate to be the Manager of a project, which might give them the feeling that we are not invested in the project.
Similarly, we don’t have Senior Consultant, but we’re actually discouraged to use “Business Analyst” and “Associate” with clients and use “Consultant” instead.
You would put your true title on your resume however, but on LinkedIn I understand why we need to be flexible.
