All mill no bank.
No, it doesn’t. I work there and billed over 2750 last year. Just got the standard market bonus. I’m told I do really good work and everyone likes working with me so I don’t see any quality issues either. I don’t think you’d get a bump up at 3000 hours or whatever either. You make the same here no matter what you bill.
Imagine being so brainwashed that you’ve convinced yourself billing 2700 hours and getting the same bonus as someone billing 2000 hours is normal lmao
I’ve worked at firm like Milbank and Fried Frank and can assure you billing 2400 with extra cash thrown my way didn’t make it any better. On the contrary, when I had a slow year bc of market dynamics, I missed the Milbank no hours requirement so I could truly relax.
I would say the best system is free market, where you’re the master of your destiny and run your pace. If you’re good at your job, you ll keep getting staffed unfairly and find the hours punishing even if you’re getting the extra 15 or 30 percent. I’d rather my no mean no.
Think your thought got cut off at the end but I’m hearing what you’re saying
I don’t understand why this isn’t the market norm if several firms do this - Dechert, Fried Frank, to name a few.
Ropes had bumps this year. I’ve heard of people getting 50% or more on the base bonus (not including the Dpw bump, which we also got, but wasn’t in the calc for the bump), but this was for VERY high billers
Sounds like STB, though apparently some associates there asked for a higher bonus and got it presumably because they’re worried about more attrition.
Interesting…
Btw, everything I just said goes out the door if you’re litigation. Lit is a whole different beast.
