Does pay vary between private and public companies? Fwiw, it’s a private transportation/logistics company.

Public is generally more but not always

Yes. Usually public has equity. Take a look at the baker Gilmore in house comp survey. I find it’s helpful.

In my experience, the highest pay on the private side, which usually eclipses public companies, are private family run companies not sophisticated enough to run six sigma esque audits and understand market data. As long as the payments for mansions and the boats keep coming in, they don’t mind overpaying market to retain assets.

The problem here is every day of your existence you know you’re an acquisition target, and if the kids take over the business, you might as well put in your two weeks.

Logistics usually less FYI.

Oh I know. I just wasn’t sure about it being a private company

First time posting here but… I’m currently a 1st year Tax Analyst making 58,000 plus bonus. I was never informed on how raises work for this company, but it’s the end of the year and there has not been any talk of performance evaluation, which I assumed was when compensation would be covered. This is my first “real” industry job so I’m not too sure. Is it too soon in my career to consider looking else where? The area I live has a pretty height cost of living. (F23)

I just received email to submit documents for Wells Fargo. Before this , haven't had conversation with the HR.
1. Can I mail back asking for the budget they have for this role?
2. Can I keep the current CTC thet he asked as blank and just state my expected CTC in email?
3. He had asked for tenure in the current organisation. Does this affect the hike? My tenure in current organisation is 9 months.

Any suggestions on this will be helpful. Thanks.

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

Considering trying to make a pivot. Currently a prosecutor. I have a lot of trial experience and did some ID work. Are there any logical roles aside from just litigation to keep an eye on as for as in house? I’ve been thinking there must be some applicability to the investigation skills I’ve developed but I don’t know what the move should or would be. I am coming from a place of ignorance - not sure what would suit my background.
