What can you actually do to salvage a project going down in flames? I’m a new manager, completely do not have the support I need, and it seems as though every single team/person our team relies on to get things done on time has dropped the ball. All the issues are now coming to us. I don’t have the experience to navigate this all alone, and I am not getting the necessary support as all of my managers are swamped with other (to them, more important) issues at the same client.
Missed my flight, hv imports meetings in the afternoon & cant make it in person.how can I convey to my new director (just started on this new engagement).
Anybody in Cincy? Will be staffed on a long term project there... Looking for some recommendations or at least someone to drink with
Hotel says sold out M-Th, but it’s available if I️ book M-F. What are the repercussions of on Monday saying I️ want to check out a day early?
Visiting nyc for the first time next month. What area should I stay in? Any hotel recommendations?
Courtyard marriott Atlantic city tells me breakfast isn't complimentary. Platinum here. Marriott website says courtyard offers daily credit OR breakfast. Anyone else experience this?
Does anyone have suggestions on fitness routines they follow while on the road? Been struggling to find one that I can stick to and tough to find one that I can accommodate with hotel gym equipment.
Did American Airlines really have the nerve to offer me magazines for my miles? In 2016? Magazines, paper magazines, for my miles??? REALLY?!
Lyft vs uber for rewards? Company politics removed, which has a better rewards system? Flying United not delta FYI and have enjoyed the $5 uber cash every 500 points
I will be getting 3 months sabbatical break. I have pretty good experience in traditional etl and cloud. Now managing project where we will be getting ML based use cases.Want to master hands on ML or intermediate level data science skills. Which are key topics to focus on and what free/paid resources available online. I did extensive shell scripting and c programing 5 years back but haven't coded anything in python. What areas of python I need to focus for data engineering and ML.
I’ve been seeing this a lot more recently and just had to make a thread about it. I refuse to believe that anyone on here has actually been asked to work a 100hr week. People come onto this thread with legitimate questions and concerns and I just see people trying to scare them out of public which inevitably makes it worse for everyone else who sticks around. Even an 80 hour week is debatable and that is the absolute top. Stop trying to be an attention getter. We work, but not 24/7.
has anyone purchased flight tickets off trip.com? I found a flight and prices but have never purchased off this site. thoughts?
Any companies which refinance student loans for people without H1B but still in United States of CPT/OPT? Currently paying 9.5% to Discover which is ridiculous.

So I give up. I'll ask. If you guys are traveling every week, to same hotel..WHY THE FUCK DONT YOU CHECK YOUR BAG AT THE HOTEL? Skip all the drama. Clean replacements every wk, easy peasy.
I was in a meeting with my boss and account team discussing an overage on a project. We were looking at everyone’s hours, and our UX lead (a woman) had doubled her effort. The work was necessary...
Live in LA and want to do a long weekend in Hawaii. Which island(s) should I get a hotel? Seems like direct flights into Honolulu, which would be nice..
I’ve been asked to provide availability for a first round interview over the next two weeks - am I in any way hurting my chances if I pick a later day to increase prep time?
What’s non equity partnership like years 1-5? Specifically, how much does your compensation increase and how do you make your way towards equity partner? Question coming from curious v50 mid level doing finance / corp. work in v busy sector likely to continue for next couple decades. 1st gen. American / 1st in fam to go to law school, would appreciate thoughts since total compensation and lifestyle at private companies w stock etc seems appealing. Obv this has been asked / debated before :)
Was forced out of a firm after more than a decade last year. Started my own law firm. Today I got a new client who called my old firm and fired one of my ex colleagues to come with me and told them they were coming to my firm. The colleague and I were close, but this is business and I don’t feel bad. Although I have been acquiring unhappy clients of my old firm for a while now, this was the first who was on a current retainer with the former firm. Life is much better on my own. :)
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Confession - I don't want to go back to office. I'm happy working from home and find no solid reason in stepping back. I hope the flexi work culture allows permanent WFH - I don't have a "good enough" reason, but I don't want to go (isn't this good enough?) It's been 1.5 years now, too comfortable to step out from my PJs to jeans.
Anyone looking for ey referral please ping me
MBB folks: how often do your firms hire PhD's?
Could I use a job offer that I don’t want as leverage to get a raise? Or is it not really leverage because I don’t have the intention to actually leave. This is more of a hypothetical question.
McKinsey 🐠, a few questions about the Specialist roles - how is the specialist track viewed compared to the generalists and would a SC/Manager (currently at Deloitte) be competitive? Saw an open position that I was interested, but no idea if I’m competitive for it or not. Only have 1.5 years in consulting, but 10 years in DoD/government. TIA!
If my firm mandates the vaccine and I don’t provide proof, do they have to pay me severance when they fire me? FULL DISCLOSURE: I’m vaccinated, I just don’t want to work here anymore and I would like some extra $$$ 😂😂😂😂

As a first time PM at a company with no PM structure, I’m finding it difficult to learn good practices and bring myself to “the next level”. Has anyone here had a similar self taught start that made the break through to become a solid senior PM? Anything will help, books, etc.
Has anyone tried out the Branch Furniture ergonomic desk chair? If so, would you recommend it? If not, which chair would you recommend?
Delta announced that they’re fining unvaccinated employees $200 a month. Probably easier to just mandate vaccines for anyone who flies on their airline, but this is a good step.
I'm in discussions for a tech strategy role with Accenture Middle East and a case interview appears to be the next step. Does anyone have any insight as to locations, what to expect from the case, member firm culture, expat life etc? I've never gotten this far for an international role.
