If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.
Is Boston part of our Northeast? Yes, right?
🥺Want some suggestion for busy season!
Have you ever left a job bc of bad cultural fit?
You know you’re a tax accountant if.....
New to Fishbowl?

🙄 @PwC 2
Think of it as going to community college from Harvard.
But you will still have big 4 experience on your resume and that’s all anyone cares about.
It only does if you think that way. Just depends on what your career goals are. if BDO helps further those goals then I don’t see how it can impact your career poorly.
I’ve worked at big 4 and here and all I’m saying is that on AVERAGE the industry job quality is wayyyy worse at mid tier
Not really, honestly experience is experience, big4 helps for sure but if ur actually not a crappy worker and can sell yourself, doesnt matter imo.
But stay until senior at least at Big4 if u can
LOL PwC 2. More like going from Harvard to like Boston College or something.
If your end goal is industry leaving big 4 will certainly hurt
More like from Harvard to Duke at least... Top 3 to Top 10
Don’t listen to GT1, he don’t know what he’s talking bout. I know plenty of ppl who worked at mid firms having lucrative careers in industry fortune 100 companies, etc.
Ppl hate this word but network network network.
Worst case u can always go back to big4, plenty of boomerangs out there that did what u did
I came from EY to a specialty service line here and recruiters still harass me almost daily. I still show up in searches when someone’s looking for Big 4, because I have that experience on linkedin, etc. I have a lot more freedom with my time and enjoy what I’m doing a lot more, I’ve had the opportunity to be more hands on and client facing, which has helped both my technical and my networking. It’s a more diverse range of clients, which generally means they’re pretty crappy, but I personally find those more interesting, but you might not. Your personal brand is what you make of it, and I would suggest being active in networking organizations and activities in your city.
No - it just depends on what you’re doing at the company
Also depends on your service line. For certain areas like M&A and international is a huge difference. Stay in b4
BDO South FL needs help, I hear.
It does absolutely.... lowest level big 4 candidate will be taken without thought over the highest level mid tier candidate. Just reputation. Ultimately, we audit the big boys
Nope I switched and work life balance is better, pay is higher, and we are still an international firm!
