Anyone here “overemployed”?
I am a Principal Solutions Architect with 13 YOE of which 5 years exp is with Biotech focusing on Public Cloud (AWS) & overall AWS exp. 9 years. I need suggestions /opinions if applying for a Senior Solutions Architect (Level6) at AWS makes sense or if I should aim for a Principal SA (level 7) role at AWS with Healthcare & Lifesciences industry experience. If it makes any difference, I worked for AWS ProServe as an external SA in the past. Any insights / feedback appreciated.

LTI and Mindtree merger planned on 6 May as per media report . The brand name Mindtree will be dissolved. Seems appraisal discussions and hike is pending due to this event.
Don't expect good hike and people who can sense the future work culture , will start looking for the change now

Don’t got to UMD. Georgetown is okay, but might be better to consider Darden in the DMV area. Wharton will be a good investment too. Just depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to stay in the DMV and work in DC, you don’t need to go to Wharton. If you are open for a career change and get away from Government work, then go to Wharton and the investment will be worth it. Wharton can one you a job anywhere across the US.
Darden in DMV only offers EMBA
It matters. It matters a lot.
If those are your choices, please seriously consider Wharton over schools in DMV. Where you get your MBA matters a crap-ton.
I don’t think it matters. But the heart wants what is wants. I too want to go to Wharton.
Try to get a fellowship
It does only if it is ivy. Later all BS. Placements are key. Your first two jobs post MBA up to 3 years which ever is first will have influence of your MBA school. Everything else will be your work experience.
They do. Honestly, consulting firms see this a lot. For example a Cornell team tends to have pseudo network within organization and that helps you to get better projects via that network. Those are some additional perks. In Industry especially tech, experience will matter more.
Also why would mba be important for tech?
At the same time the best non technical business and sales role people are the ones who can learn technology and learn the limits, realistic time lines, and culture and motivation of tech people.
Yes it really does matter. The M7 (if US) or INSEAD and LBS (if international) are the only ones that actually provide a return that makes the MBA worth it. UMD is not going to get you into anywhere you can't go already.
Inside of the M7, INSEAD, and LBS, each school has a high degree of connections with certain industries. Take a look at employment statistics for graduates at each to figure out where the candidates are employed and where your future network would be strongest.
Wharton is not valued at D. Probably better with T20 schools if you plan to stay long at the firm
True that
What’s the rate of return by doing one or the other. How long is it going to be take make up the money? If you think you can make more than 75% of what you will be making after you earn that MBA it may be worth it. If not just slog away.
Yes it does matter. Getting one from Hult for example or other run of the mill places is looked down upon. But mostly target school attendees and recruiters do so. At the end of the day your wellbeing and life situation matters the most.
Where you do your MBA matters a shitload. Really. If you are doing a STEM degree not so much. Opens doors. Don’t sweat the small stuff. The difference in income / oppty cost will be nothing compared to where you will end up.
It definitely matters. I was ignorant and didn’t even know what mgt consulting was, and decided on a non-target MBA right after undergrad. Waste of tuition. I couldn’t break into strategy from my first few years in industry but am happy with my advisory career. But I know my exit opps will never be as great.
Honestly I would consider just leaving off my non-brand name MBA off my resume if I ever apply to prestigious firms like FAANG or MBB (for implementation) in the future. At least my undergrad is a tier 1 school.
