That's a great way to lose all your friends and live a miserable life ^

Sorry PwC life isn't just about money. It's safe to say all of us in Big 4 will do well. I guarantee if you make it to 50 and are on your death bed due to stress, you'd give all your wealth to have an extra 10 years. You can't buy back time that is waisted killing yourself at work. Balance.

^i have plenty of goals - part of those goals include having a life outside working

No. Everyone in public accounting works hard, but not everyone makes it to partner. It takes more. Be the one who volunteers to take on jobs others don't want. Be responsive to clients and coworkers at all times. Be willing to take on work when you already feel overwhelmed.

From what I can see ... 7th year coming, the hardest working person always lose out to the charming / charismatic person. It does seem like working super hard and have no friends get you nowhere (also those hardworking people are first to be let go for some reason, but what do I know)

They put something special in PwC1s koolaid

@PWC3 nailed it. Because I am far more charming than I am hard working, and it has helped me tremendously.

Hell the f no. I'd be the luckiest man on earth and clearly am not.

NOPE

^Enjoy realizing you aren't any happier when you have no goals.

Who said anything about money? I could care less about money. I know this may come as a shock, but some of us actually enjoy this profession and do not regret working.

You probably don't have very many fiends PwC 1

I'm just addressing the initial question here. You all can't seem to handle it. The answer is that working hard doesn't mean you will get lucky. You may work really hard and still fall short so you had better love what you are doing anyway.

Working hard does not make you lucky. These are two very different things

If you are working hard.....you might not be lucky!

Hi! I just hit my two year mark at my firm and I was wondering about switching from public to private firms for the work life balance and pay. I started off as an AP Specialist at an aerospace tooling company and never left later than 5 PM. Now I’m barely making rent but have the awesome mentorship and resources to produce FS and potentially grow but long hours are affecting my well being and finances. Should I grind it out at the firm or try for staff accountant?

Hi Account friends! It’s the start of a new year and I was hoping you all could share any book / newsletter / blog / course recommendations that help keep you up to snuff. Feeling a bit stale and like the last year has been a tactical grind. I want to brush up on modern thinking for our industry - the latest and greatest marketing books, strategy perspectives, creative self help, etc. to feel more alive as we start 2022.

Comment your favs and THANK YOU in advance!

Just realized I can’t contribute to a Roth since my income is too high (I think). TC ~190k and wife makes around 90k. I’ve only been contributing for a few months now at the advice from a CFP friend (he never asked me what I made). Should I go back to 401k contributions or is there a better option here? I expect my retirement income (via pension) to be higher than my HHI now.
