We use the work number (which is very challenging), but there are some instances where we will complete them ourselves.

Quick question, do you conduct references on candidates prior to offers or joining your company? If so, then why not provide references to those who are leaving or have left your company?
I would recommend providing Employment Verification to requests, this is Job Title(s), Department(s), Dates employed (From To), key responsibilities, final closing statement on company policy on re-hiring.

like

We don’t conduct references but we do verify employment (job titles, department, dates). I’m in a situation where a company I applied to is asking for reference however my manager has declined due to company policy. I was asking to see what other companies do that and why.

like

Yes. However it varies by company .

I have been working at the same company for 16 years right out of college and moved up in management...I am finding that the title of the jobs with similar responsibilities are director level outside my company...I am seeing I am rejected because I don't have the same title as what I am applying for.. do people normally just use the higher title given it's the same responsibilities on job applications? I know my company doesn't provide titles when checked for employment.

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.
