My boyfriend wants kids. The only kids I want are the ones with fur and 4 legs. Dual role position for a sub-specialist. It’s a very busy role that includes surgery scheduling , prior auths for surgeries and tests, referrals, returning patient calls regarding their surgeries, and to add to it, reviewing the schedules for out 2 Mds, 2 PA’s, & NP. They want everything done quickly but with also close attention to details but with absolutely no overtime. Right now I make less than I feel appropriate but it’s also more than the other clerical jobs in our corporation.

Do you explain the "why" as in-house or do you just give the answer? IMO the why teaches internal teams to ask "better” questions and might train them to call some of the shots.

Then again, I’m scared the "why" just comes off as soap-boxing and I’m becoming the legal windbag stereotype.

Are there any other in-house L&E attys on here? Wondering what others are doing for WFH requests for folks who claim weakened immune systems / exposure to covid as reason they need to work from home full time. Have the recent special bonuses/hot corporate lateral market made any impact on the in-house job market? I can see more biglaw lawyers sticking around due to the bonuses and/or candidates commanding more from in house employers.

I have one pro bono case that I kept when I left my firm to go in house. It’s a matter completely unrelated to my company and I have malpractice insurance through the nonprofit organization associated with the case. I’ve made clear to my client that I’m repping this client in my personal capacity. No one has asked me specifically about pro bono stuff at my company - if I know there’s no conflict of interest, is this something I should disclose? To whom should I disclose this?

Hi Fish. Recently moved in-house to a newly public tech company. People are great, but the team is really understaffed. No paralegal or assistant- we are doing everything ourselves. Is this normal for in-house? Have been working close to big law hours in addition to doing all basic admin for the group. Seriously considering a return to biglaw. Am I being crazy?
