We do and it’s generously funded. Any specific questions?

like

How does funding get supported and what sort of year round programs are provided to employees?

Nope. I'd say it is because of the lack of leaders committing to the task. Well, I'd add a lack of support from the company. How about in your company, OP?

like

We do have one. And we have frequent meetings along with opportunities on giving back. I will say that some folks are fond of our ERG, being that LGBTQ+ subjects are sensitive to some. Which we respect. But it’s never stopped us from getting support from the higher ups or hosting events. Are you working for a large company or smaller-based company?

No we do not. I really wish we did though.

like

We don't, but you just gave me a great idea! I'll go see if we can get one started since there's actually quite a handful of us here. I don't think there's any real reason behind why it doesn't exist in our company. Does yours have one?

like

We do! It’s a well-run ERG. For California we have about 50-60 members. However, some regions don’t have folks running it. We do year round programs where we give back to our community by volunteering for various causes and/or give money to non-profits in our region. If you need advice or have questions on starting one, or how to navigate through presenting it, let me know! Happy to help

How about we stop dividing and labeling people? The only thing that matters at work is can you perform your job!

like

I disagree. The purpose of an ERG isn’t to divide or label people. It helps promote a work-life balance and allows us to increase diverse backgrounds. Yes, performance is key but what our company represents is important. Our ERG for example volunteers and gives back to the organization but also provides education to our employees and any ally who may not be aware on I.e, gender pronouns, employees who are transitioning, coming out and so it allows folks to be authentic in the work place.

like

Yes we have and our employees love us for it. I love that we are getting more and more progressive in our company. Hoping that others can follow suit.

like

We do at the moment, but that's because we have a big enough organization where enough people are interested in driving it forward

like

That’s good. What are some best practices that helps it going?

Are you inviting people to a new bowl, or asking about LGBTQ+ policy?

I think both a Q and joining a new bowl!

like

Not at the moment. I am really hoping we could push this through next year.

Any consultant here who has worked at Citadel or knows someone who is working at Citadel? A recruiter from there reached out to me today, and I got the sense that the culture there is more intense compared to consulting. How would you compare Citadel vs MBB on the below points:

a) Culture
b) Diversity (I am an international student and a person of color, and my sense is that Citadel is not as international)
c) Comp trajectory

Had a talk with the partners Thursday, they said I’m not producing enough work at the end of each day. First year associate, new area of law, wfh so they are more “what are you doing every second”. They want me to start turning in a daily log (we are plaintiffs attorneys so no billing normally) any advice? While I appreciate their honesty, I feel like they consider me severely indebted to them that they hired me mid pandemic and “allow” me to work from home.

I've recently been seeing more people talk about human capital and psychological capital and was wondering if anyone had any resources for someone that doesn't have formal training in HR. My company is in need of a update online, could use your opinions! We need to better showcase our culture (caring, supportive, fun, intelligent IT industry leaders) as well as diversity. We are predominantly white still but making strides to improve here. What’s the best way to approach? I don’t want to seem disingenuous or that we are singling out our diverse employees (asking for photos). We have a remote and on-site workforce about 350+ EEs. Non white EEs make up about 35% of the company rn.

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

I'm looking for an HR Director role.
I'm currently a Senior HR Manager (because the Ops Director didn't want another Director In the payroll) overseeing 4 facilities & 3 companies. I have 1 HR Manager, 3 HR Generalists, 1 Recruiter, 2 EHS Coord, and 3 EHS Leads reporting to me.
I have over 15 years in HR, an MBA, PHR & SHRM-CP certifications & experience in healthcare, retail, logistics, & manufacturing.
I'm in Texas and willing to relocate to San Antonio, College Station & Houston.
Thank you.

I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

Any advice on getting your foot in the door in the Big 4 companies or the like, ie: PwC, Deloitte, etc. I feel like I have the perfect experience for some of these posted roles but the online application process is a black hole. I’ve seen my resume ‘in review’ for 6+ months or more. Do people only get interviewed for these roles through networking?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Hello everyone,

I am currently a HR Generalist for a small aerospace company, located in CA. I have been in a generalist role for a little over 4 years now and before that, I did recruiting/safety for about 3 years. Hello HR folks. Overheard a conversation at work and am curious what is the norm.
If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?

Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?
