Many who repatriate are lured by a vibrant startup scene in India that is drawing unprecedented capital from venture and private equity firms and is buoyed by an effervescent market for stocks. But they are also disenchanted with what they perceive as America’s bleak and hopeless immigration landscape, where the wait times for green cards are tortuously long, and the limits on launching startups for newcomers are highly restrictive.

We do at A.T. Kearney! Granted it’s a recent development for some events like our regional All Hands, but support staff (we are called Management Services) have been welcome to participate in the affinity groups for a while now. We have an awesome Managing Partner and our Head of Americas who have both made this a priority and lead by example. If this isn’t happening for you at BCG, come over to us!
We aren’t perfect, and we have a way to go in some areas, but it’s not for lack of trying at the senior leadership level.
If you want to know more, I am happy to talk through - by nature of what I do at Kearney, I see a lot of our diversity and inclusion initiatives from leadership down and I worked on a lot of office initiatives in our largest Americas office.
Absolutely, yes. They are still our colleagues. I think one of our leads for the LGBT+ network is an Admin Assistant.
And if a firm doesn’t, I truly hope they don’t sell employee engagement consulting services. How backwards.
All staff. Though generally non client facing staff are less interested. Contributing to and leading in firm initiatives aren’t really part of their annual reviews
Would LGBT support staff be invited to an annual internal company wide LGBT conference? Or does your firm only invite client facing consulting staff to those sorts of events?
Can’t speak to that specific event but generally a conference I would expect only client facing. An internal company meeting maybe internal would be included
In my office our annual women’s event is consultants only, but we have a few other events that are open to everyone.
Think that the GLAM conference is only for consultants too (though not sure on this one)
Yeah we are generally not the most inclusive of our non-consulting staff in many firm or office wide events
Yes
Definitely yes.
