Probably nothing
I think corporations are not people. Publicly traded firms, like Accenture, will do what they need to to appease shareholders. If the street doesn’t care about climate change than the firm won’t either.
Private firms I believe have more flexibility to do something larger, but the cynic in me believes that partners won’t care about climate change if it affects their bottom line
Well flying is certainly not great for the environment
Agree with D2. Only truly sustainable way is to walk to our client sites.
Consultant 1 do you think that is OK?
The liberal paradox (and I'm one). When it's convenient for us like making political donations to the other side or supporting corporate tax cuts, we yell corporations are not people. When it's inconvenient we demand they take a stand to spend money on things outside of their business. Should Accenture pay to plant trees? No. Are they doing things like publish your CO2 impact in the portal to make you aware of it and encourage you to take less flights if possible? Yes. Is that enough action? I think it is.
It’s not political to offset carbon emissions! Granted there are a lot of corporations that offset by way of planting trees where trees aren’t really needed and things like that, but I think that it’s still better than doing nothing about it.
The best thing my firm could do to save the environment is to shut shop
How about offsets or the business of climate change?
That sounds more political op. I dont think any of the firms you've heard specialize in that.
