Does your firm give out raises when you get promoted? Just found out mine only gives out raises as part of the annual appraisal process. So if you get promoted in Jan, you won’t get a raise until Oct.

F that noise. Tell them thanks, but no thanks. I bet they will bill you out at your new higher rate effective immediately

That’s mad. I got promoted in April (and paid in line with new role) and got a pay rise on top of that in July

BKD sucks as a firm especially when it deals with raises. You don’t get a nice raise either when you get promoted. My coach told me that I need to accept being paid below market if I’m planning on staying here long term.

Everything is deferred comp in PA, especially BKD....eve if you make partner, the big payday isn’t until retirement after 20 years of being partner

My firm does. Our promotional raises happens in Jan/June and annual raises happens in June.

It depends on each office. Mine was the same as yours, so I basically worked my first busy season as a Senior on my old Staff salary 👎🏻

Yes, if we are promoted at mid year, we also receive a raise

I wouldn’t get too caught up in the bonus. Ive been around for a while and make comparable to big 4 with no raises at promotion. Our raise structure is different that other companies and bases it off individual performance, not random number ratings and you get same raises as 80% of other people. If you work hard you are taken care of. Plus promotions at BKD are not changes in responsibility. Just because you make senior doesn’t mean all the sudden you are allowed to run jobs. You can start doing that 6 months in if you make a good impression which is reflected in your annual wages. When I first started, I got caught up in the promotion wage too, but in the long run, I’m still comparable to everyone else.

Not necessarily true. I’m paid top of market and doing quite well. Only downside is I’d have to take a pay cut if I decided to leave; guess that is a good strategy on their end as it keeps me around to make partner :)

Any experienced senior managers that have moved between Big 4 firms? Can you speak towards your experience, any struggles, and opportunities in terms of partner promotion? Frankly, EY path to partner seems to be too clouded (long pipeline, no clear direction/path, uncertainty on promotion cycles, etc.) at the moment and I would like to visit all options. Appreciate the input.
