Trying to buy a house. Didnt prequalify for mortgage loan from chase - their credit score requirements have become stringent because of covid. Mine is 680. They need 700 min. Any other banks that might have more lax reqs? Any experiences folks can share?
I am overwhelmed with the current state of affairs over the last six mos and six weeks. From COVID and making sure my team feels ‘ok’, to the elevation of BLM due to the long overlooked atrocities, my building my destroyed by riots and looters and then boarded up, LGBTQ focusing on the negative history instead of the pride that I so dearly love, Brands pulling out of FB (when hate is so clearly more pervasive than just on FB)...I don’t want anything swept under the rug - I am craving happiness
Has anyone ever shit their pants at work or on the way to/from work? I’ll go first... Was on my way to my buddy’s place for post-work dranks when I got the sudden urge to poo. Stuck in rush hour traffic I started sweating. Fast food places were not allowing people inside (only drive thru during peak covid) so I drove around looking for bush to shit in. Found a house with no lights on and nice bushes out front and pulled over. (Cont’d in comments)
What "hard truths" or insights has the coronavirus crisis revealed about your own firm and our larger industry? Let's be pretty open and honest here.
Deloitte hiring freeze? I had a verbal offer and reviewed benefits 3 weeks before the covid environment. I was informed that I would be contacted when there was an update. Wait or reach out? Advice?
With the holidays coming up, partners and client relationship owners, do you get your clients gifts? Pre-COVID we sent treats to the office, but most of my clients are still home. Would it be appropriate to send gifts directly to them? If so, any ideas on things/price limits?
Protests scared coronavirus away!
The truth about how covid started
HR professionals- are you requiring a negative test before any employees return to work after COVID? Some had very mild symptoms and one was asymptomatic. I’ve read not to push for a Dr.’s note and some people can still be positive yet not contagious. Right now I’m following the cdc guidelines of 10 days from first symptom, fever free for 24 hrs and improvement of symptoms.
Quick update for those who might be curious about the situation in my school and our lack of COVID precautions. I often comment on here about how my school stayed in person all year last year with almost no difference from a normal year. No mask mandate, no teachers or staff masking. 10% or less of students masking. Very few vaccinated here. Results: we have no students, staff, or family members in the hospital. Very few cases either. Two months of this now.
What would you do, if anything? A coworker with confirmed COVID19 results (asymptomatic, only lost sense of smell) refuses to wear a mask and continues to go out, even sends her toddler to daycare.
Brett Favre: “there’s too much uncertainty from the experts and science about the Covid vaccine.” Also Brett Favre:
“A new study suggests that almost half of those hospitalized with COVID-19 have mild or asymptomatic cases.”
Disclaimer: I do not find joy in the circumstances I am about to describe. Having said that, I am experiencing minor Schadenfreude in the “I told you so” sense. My ex-wife, who told my kids that the vaccine will turn people into zombies (srs), got the results of her PCR test yesterday and confirmed she has Covid. She has been laid up in bed since Thursday and is miserable. Meanwhile, I got a positive PCR result but am entirely asymptomatic. I do hope she makes a quick recovery.
My friend survived COVID, but is dealing with a lot of pervasive symptoms. Hair loss, intense headaches, tingling sensation etc. She and her boyfriend both had it and won’t be leaving their NY apt for a long time. What can I gift her? Feeling super inadequate and hoping for some good suggestions from this group
2 years out of undergrad and planning to apply next year. I had a great relationship with an SM and decent with a partner, but since starting remote work due to COVID I have had virtually no face time with leadership bc of the size of my team and my responsibilities. Mostly just venting but ugh how do I get LORs!!
Anyone else realizing that family, friends, and general relationships are SO much more important than accomplishments as a result of covid/WFH?
I created the biggest rift I’ve ever had in my family when I left mid-covid for my first industry job, moved to a new city, started dating what I thought was the love of my life… only to come full circle. I’m forever the black sheep, got fired from a shit job, this city sucks, and he’s a half ass som’bitch that wasn’t worth it. Humble pie anyone? I’ve got a dump truck load over here… for fucks sake
What’s it like at McCann NY? The culture, the work, the work/life balance (if there is one)?
As an international hire in the US for two years now I've never been able to figure out why so many of my peers; incredibly smart people settle for a career in PA. US offers so much opportunity!
Have to cover client testing daily from 9 am to Midnight. At client site 9 am to 4 pm. PM called me at 5:00 and berated me for leaving early. Meanwhile I’m near delirious with lack of sleep. WWYD?
Microsoft Teams is driving me crazy. I feel like I’m always at work. Yesterday I was at a family bbq and I was constantly getting pinged. Every time I get a message notification I feel like I’m about to have a panic attack.
Manager wants me to write a report for a client. I called the client and asked if they wanted a report. They said no. Writing this report would be a huge waste of time. What do I say to the manager?
I’m pretty sure colleagues at my firm are inflating their billable hours. Is this the norm? I suspect many of you will think this is obvious and/or that I’m naive but wtf? I find hitting 2200 is tough even with a good sized work load. Am I just expected to play the game? I don’t want to sound self-righteous but if most are lying just to make the requirement, then maybe the requirement should be lower.
How to address a flirtatious client? On all calls there’s definitely some flirting tension as soon as I start my brief. Now everyone realizes & have expressed that it’s clear he has a liking for me.
Worth buying a home right now? I’m In the MW & breakeven on a townhome vs renting apt is ~3 yrs. Mortgage (+taxes) vs rent ~=. The caveat: can wait 1 yr where supply MIGHT catch up a little to flatten out this crazy market while interest rates still haven’t crept up to that 4-5% average. Ill have more buying power with prices POTENTIALLY decreasing and more money saved for down payment.can skip starter and go straight for forever home. Or i can buy now and take the risk of selling lower in 5 yr
Anyone at BCG in the San Francisco Bay Area willing to connect over a phone call and also potentially refer? TIA.
Deloitte be like: Your safety is our #1 priority.....but so is utilization becau$e year end is around the corner
Was a corporate analyst and recently accepted a job as an auditor for the state/government. Can this role have any complications if in the future I try to get back in the private sector or corporate finance?
I’m miserable at my job but want to wait it out until I take an upcoming vacation in July. Is it stupid that I’m not looking for jobs when I’m completely bored, uninspiring and irritated everyday?
Understandably, there is a bias towards BTC and ETH. While the alt coins are more risky (Link, Cardano, XLM, Matic, loop, etc.) their price is much more reasonable. That’s why I don’t understand why people say “I will only buy BTC and ETH”. That seems short sighted when you can put at least 10% in alt coins and hit it big if they take off. It doesn’t have to be a large allocation yet people are hesitant. This comes from a new crypto investor. Not financial advice.
Just used points to book first class tickets to Hawaii for my boo and I next month! Feels so good to finally fly somewhere I want to go without paying for it!
Art Directors and Designers, what does your WFH work station look like? I’d like to upgrade mine to be more robust than just my laptop.
Just started the interview process for a startup with a couple dozen employees to be their lead product manager. How would you approach equity vs. base comp split? Current TC is $250k so worried about taking a short term hit for long term gains.
“I’m Slacking you the Zoom link to the meeting where we’ll take the client through the Google Doc (log in via Okta to review) and if you can’t make it we’ll record the meeting and post it to Basecamp. The schedule is updated in Asana.”
I’m currently on PIP b/c low utilization and “Performance trends” during my first pregnancy. I’m pregnant again, I was not promoted due to PIP, does that mean I won’t be eligible for paid mat. leave?
