Does/did your daycare play music in the infant room? Mine doesn't, and I'm wondering if this is a red flag. They play white noise almost perpetually since other babies are sleeping on and off.

Also, we are thinking of moving my baby to a (Guidepost) Montessori school when he's old enough, and while I still need to take a tour, I'd appreciate hearing from parents who have tried a Montessori school for their infant and why you did or didn't like it for your little one.

My infant baby’s Montessori school has a specific music time during each day but otherwise has white noise. We love love our school.

Also the music time is someone playing music and singing to the kids. Not recordings of music

No our daycare does not and neither do my girlfriends other 2

Did you ask them if they’d play some music? Music is so good for the brain, it’s relaxing too. I’d ask, maybe it’s oversight on their part?

Ours does white noise next to cribs w sleeping babies, and then bumpin Disney music

Zero music or white noise where we sent our kid to daycare as an infant. Later on in the 2+ range there was music in Montessori school but played by the kids and teachers, absolutely no disney music etc there. Now in pre-k and they play music in class together and in after school care there is a lot of disney soundtrack hits when I come in at pickup time EOD.

Expecting my first baby in October. My boyfriend of 6 years and I have been having a lot of issues and he’s growing verbally abusive. I’m thinking it’s best if one of us moves out to create space for a healthy remainder of my pregnancy. Has anyone broken up mid pregnancy? Terrified to make the wrong decision but we aren’t happy anymore.

How did you decide nanny vs daycare for infants? Husband and I are both consultants so nanny is appealing, but the $30-$35/hr cost is terrifying. At the same time, it would be wonderful not to worry about baby being sent home sick or commuting time for drop off. Thoughts?

Help! I found out that a guy I've met online and have been chatting with for a while now is married with a kid!! What can I do now? Block him? Confront him?! I feel so terrible.

What are parents paying for baby sitters these days? Wife and I going out tonight for about 3-4 hours and have a local college student babysitting our toddler daughter tonight. Low-medium cost of living city and daughter will be asleep for most of the time. We’re thinking $15-20 per hour and make sure there are plenty of snacks around. Appropriate?

I started dating this guy some months before covid struck.. he was literally crazy about me. He even stayed in Hyderabad for months just so that we could meet once before he went on to stay with his family. After that it had been a real roller coaster. He pampered me a lot before and now he hardly talks. We both have switched to different companies (earlier were in the same) and now he works 6 days a week. Sleeps or Vists his relatives or works on Sundays. Sometimes I feel he no longer loves me.

Anyone really want to be a mom but is just starting their career? I find myself so jealous (and kinda embarrassed to be) of people having kids at my age (23) but I wanted to wait a while to make manager to improve my own financial circumstances (SO does well so money isn’t really an issue). I also feel like I’ll get judged for being so young and won’t have anything in common with friends anymore. How did you decide when to have a kid?

About to start IVF process for baby 2 and only this group would understand - stabbing needles in your butt is a decidedly unsexy way of having a baby.

Has anyone felt depressed after having a kid (male here)? I feel anything I do for either my S.O. or for the baby is not enough and can’t manage this job + personal life. Some days I think everyone...

My husband and I are both very ready to start a family. For those who have finished their PhD while pregnant or with a young child, do you have any regrets?

My partner and I are thinking of starting to try for a child later this year. We live in a HCOL in a 1 bedroom - 800 sq ft apartment. House prices and rent are skyrocketing and our rent controlled apartment seems pretty good to us right now. How bad is it if we just stay here with a newborn for a year or so? Is this a bad idea?

How many times does a kid have to hurt people before something happens? I work with a student part time at one school before going back to my original school. He got moved because of his aggressions. He hurt one teacher but she was able to just do PT. He hurt a para to the point of surgery. He also did something to the bus attendant but we don't know what. I'm afraid now that he will hurt the teacher I'm with due to seeing what has happened in the past and how it happened.

We're about to have our first child and my wife and I are both as prepared as we can possibly be and panicking about anything we may have forgotten. What do you wish you knew before becoming a working parent in law?

Expecting twin mom here! Any recommendations for a baby monitor with two cameras, a decent sized screen for the monitor, AND has a compatible app? I’m not having any luck finding one that has all of this.

I work in a smaller town with less than 10,000 people and I just found out my shift schedule will be changing, and at least three days a week I'm working my kid's school drop-off time in the morning. Do you think it would be unprofessional to request that I run home in the morning, grab my kids and quickly drop them off at school or ask about making other tweaks to my schedule?

I am an unmarried working man in his 30s with a southern mother. In other words I'm flying home for Christmas and my mother just called to tell me that she just happened to accidentally run into the sweetest girl from her church that she just knows I'll get along with and accidentally invited her to our house for dinner the night that I get home. Deadass the woman will not rest until I am tied down. Pray for me!

For those who are travel intensive- what things do you do for your significant others when away and at home? Being gone can be tough on both them and you

Is drinking with your coworkers THAT important? I’ve been sober for 6 months but I don’t like advertising that at work. I don’t enjoy going to happy hours with coworkers. Didn’t even when I did drink. It’s also just so discriminatory against mothers and fathers who need to be home after work. But I got invited to a small happy hour 40 minutes away from my house by some people I don’t work with but would love to one day and I don’t have the time or care to go but hate that I feel like I need to.

Does anyone live in Wayland, Weston, Sudbury, Lincoln, etc (in that general area) that can shed some light on the school districts? I know they are very well ranked but do you feel there is a strong "keeping up with the Joneses" mindset or are the kids under crazy pressure to do well?
Considering a move, looking at those areas and have heard questionable things about Arlington, lexington, concord-carlisle and even AB. Haven't seen much on the others so looking for some opinions. Thanks!

If you were a GMC and wanted to improve your marketability but weren't technically inclined, what certifications, courses, or other opportunities would you pursue? When I say I'm not technically inclined, I mean I can follow courses on cloud computing and machine learning but if I was to do the work on a daily basis, I'd hate myself.

Tips for narrowing down apartments when they all seem to be the same luxury buildings? Looking in the LoHi/LoDo/RiNo neighborhoods yields so many options. Probably going to have to rent sight unseen.

I’m a designer, just over 3 yrs experience working after undergrad, 1.5 yrs w/ my current firm, and over 10 yrs w/ Adobe programs. I find that in my job, senior designers will often give me direction by explaining how to use software (Eg.—“make a new layer, copy XYX onto that layer, go to master pgs and add XYZ, etc.”). I want conceptual/high level feedback, but I feel like it’s rude to say “I know how to do that.” How do I respectfully get design direction that also respects my competency?

I just wanted to share since it was so helpful to me - I know I have a UTI and I’ve been up all night. No urgent care or clinic appointments available today. But I was able to easily get a prescription through GoodRx in about 10 mins at 6:00 am! So easy and only $39 for the “visit.”
