Doesn’t look like work from home is here to stay and will be tough for those saying they’ll leave without it to find a lot of opportunities.

Best protein powder?
McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company been working here one year and received pretty positive feedback. Given the expectation for people of my tenure to transition to EM in a year or so, I can’t see myself staying due to the WLB as an EM. I’m 35 and have 2 young kids. Can it even be realistically done? Would love to stay but I don’t see a balance which would keep my family happy. What options do I have from there?
I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

I know companies that even pre-COVID had roles that were remote, including some executive level roles as well. I don’t think I buy this panic news one bit. Jamie Dimon and his ilk (that bald head from GS) are just control freaks, old school mentality types who want puppies to frolic around them all day long
If only we could treat people like individuals, with varying personal opinions and preferences, as opposed to homogeneous groups. In this context, why not let individuals decide where they want to work? Wouldn’t this approach maximize job satisfaction and productivity?
Ain’t that the truth, K1

Ready to suit up and get on planes again. Just need to drop a few pounds in the interim.
I think the majority of corporate jobs will be some hybrid model of sorts
I think it will be hybrid and then transition to full time once people become comfortable working in the office. I’ve enjoyed wfh at times and I get why people with kids enjoy wfh more but I think that junior employees should be in the office once it’s safe because wfh is pretty miserable when you don’t know anyone, can’t easily go to someone’s desk and ask questions or network/build camaraderie. Plus you sometimes just need to get out and interact with people and not be trapped in a tiny apartment
Ok. Well, in-office policies are not ideal for people with families or those with health issues. It forces people to commute, forces them to live in a certain geography away from extended family, forces them to sacrifice career options in order to accommodate a spouses career or kids school district, forces you to have a second car, forces you to miss games and school events due to lack of flexibility. Moms are forced to pump or quit breastfeeding early because it's unsustainable.
I don't think a bunch of parents being forced to come in, just for a group of analysts that have no trouble making a network, makes sense. Employees in their 20s have many friends, especially if they want to. You can always have offsite events a few times a year that's focused on connecting and keeping your workforce aligned.
We need to embrace the new way of working. Anyone who can't embrace flexibility and at minimum hybrid, if not fully remote first, is going to lose talent.
No 24 year old would rather sit next to a grumpy middle aged coworker in an office building, instead of being a digital nomad in Hawaii, who goes to DU twice a year to learn and connect.
Many folks In Deloitte feel in person interaction and more client facing will help our business grow. I have a feeling by the end of this year most will be back to the office at least 1/2 of the week if not more. In Gps we have already been with a lot of our clients. I think the firm will support a hybrid model but I think the pressures of missing out on in person conversations, access to leadership and promotion opportunities will pull even the ones who want to be at home, back to the office.
